We knew it was coming. We just didn't know when. Until last night. That's when Eamonn Horan, giving the sports results at the end of the RTÉ TV 9 O'Clock News, broke the exclusive news we'd all been waiting for - "Joekernansgalway had a good win over Sligo".

Don't they usually say that when there's a new manager?

I don't know what the rules are for creating new teams, but I haven't heard any mention of Kevinwalshsligo or Seandempseyslaois.

Well poor old Mayo has been lumbered with being called "John Maughans Mayo" and when Maughan  finished with the toy strangely it was never called "Micky Morans Mayo" (as subsequent events were to prove). However another John got the gig and they are frequently called "John O Mahony's Mayo". Come to think of it...why not... sure those guys believe its their team anyway. Since 1987 to the present John's  O Mahoney and Maughan have controlled the team for a total of 15 years. Thank God its not a political seat or they would probably try and keep it in the family...on second thoughts maybe thats the aim.
