The Irish News made its name through people dying and horses running. The death notices and Red Hand's tips were the USP in the 70s and 80s. Still to this day, if you want to find out about someone who has died, you buy the Irish News. The Daily Ireland attempted it but were halfhearted about it with a fella dying in Leitrim and a woman in Portglenone and that about it.

I actually don't mind the Irish News. I know they now have a page 3 of sorts with celeb news or gossip but sure that's for the women. They still have a semblance of political commentary from a broad spectrum, good GAA coverage and decent media at the weekend. I follow yer man Roy's fashion tips too.

I stopped reading the Stars when I heard that on days when Shelley von Strunckel didn't get her copy in on time, the technicians would just make up what Aries and Capricorn would have in store.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.
