No doubt JBM's was the best goal... Fenton's was sensational alrite but a bit of  a fluke too. Best memory of all was Olcan's tho.

ha ha derry

Jimmy Barry- Murphys goal was unreal. I had never seen it before.

Couldn't agree more. Fentons goal was a good goal whether it was a fluke or not but apart from todays program, the amount of talk about it every time goals are discussed is not justified.  Great to see Johnny Pilkington on the run after the half time smoke as well.

Didn't Eoin Kelly score a goal from the 65 against KK in this years semi?

Fenton's should have been bread and butter to a decent goalkeeper.

are you serious? Tommy Quaid not a decent keeper?

That was a cracking shot, right into the top corner, at full pelt. No keeper in the land would have stopped it.

I only caught the top 10 or so which seemed like a reasonable enough reflection on things. I can't help wondering though about goals that got missed out on because they were in earlier rounds of the championship and might not stick in the memory as well as those that were scored during live broadcasts.

Still, decent list, and its hard to argue with the winner.

It was a great afternoons veiwing on TG4 alright. I enjoyed every minute of it.

How far back did they go in making selections?  Surely Pat Delany scored some fantastic goals  for Kilkenny after bouncing the ball with the hurl after the second catch and keeping going after getting drawn across on his way goalwards with wallops you could hear in the stands?  Not one of them shown?  >:(

Your right Bud Wiser but I'm sure there was loads of great goals scored before TG4 arrived. They can only show what they have on film.

them are on film alright. Sure most of us only saw them on TG4's reshowing of all-Ireland gold.

that was my worry too. The best goals selection does seem somewhat lazy. Great goals but I'm sure there were some from the era Bud refers to that should have been in there - was Tony Doran even mentioned?

It was a fair bit harder to score goals when Delaney was scoring them.  Going through with the Delaney Bounce was like the poor devils in the Gandhi Salt March, remember where they keep walking up to the Brits who kept clubbing them and then the next wave came for the same!!   By jaysus any goals Delaney got he earned them, I saw him one day in Croker getting lashed out of it by Wexford, literally walloped across the legs as he ran through and buried the ball in the net but the ref had blown for a free.  He kept running, took the ball out of the goals and put it on the ground, took the free and buried it again and ran up the field jumping up and down.  Ah them were the days !

Even the winning goal by JBM needed an element of luck wheras the likes of goals scored by Delaney needed sheer skill and bravery.

(Not that I have anthing aginst Cork or anything !! !! !!)
