Re the people above who are ringing the passport office, keep trying....

Mrs and wee fella heading for US on Monday, his passport had expired and we sent away for new one via passport express several weeks ago but still no passport. The Mrs (never one to give up easily) persevered with ringing the number and eventually a very nice girl answered it and has arranged for it to be processed and be available for collection this Thursday

I had a bit of bother with a passport a few months ago with a holiday looming. It is hard to get through to them, but that is due to the volume of calls I would imagine. They are very helpful when you do get through to them.

I had problems last year, need a passport in a hurry, left it to late etc, I was able to go down and sort the problems out.

Yeah probably the best bet is to head down, you should get seen.

Yeah I have tried ringing the number flat out too. It just goes straight onto an answermachine to tell u they are unable to take ur call. What a joke!
Im in a bit of a pickle of what to do now. When I logon to passport express I get the following,

Application Number Entered: 10192693034
Status: Application No. 10192693034. Received on 21/06/2011 and has been registered.

Issue Date: 04/07/2011 (This is the target date and is for applications received by Passport Express only, however the passport office is currently experiencing delays of 5 working days, which you should add to this date)

Another one.

The nephew sat on his passport and the plastic cover has come away from the inside page holding the photograph. Rang Molesworth St this morning about a dozen times and eventually got some ignorant bolloxs who was no help at all. Basically said he'd have to go through the whole application process again and come down with photographic id, birth cert and signed photos. Problem is, his passport is the only photographic id he has, can't find his long birth cert and he's booked to go to Spain the Tuesday after next.

Any ideas?

Head to the PP office with the damaged PP, photos and completed form and hope for the best!  :-\

Would he have time to order another birth cert. and head to Molesworth Street with as much info as he can, proof of travel etc. They are actually helpful enough when you get there.

It might be no harm to call the Cork passport office. At worst, I'd be surprised if you get an ignorant bollox. They went out of their way to be helpful to me before. You'll probably find they can process things faster too – smaller backlogs.

Head down to the place on Chichester Street in Belfast and get a new birth certificate. You can pay to get it on the day you are going. Go in give them the dough then you have to wait an hour or so then you have your birth cert. Then head down to Molesworth and get an emergency passport, they can do it in one day if he shows his travel itinerary.

Thanks Hardy, rang Cork. A pleasant lady there told me all he needs is his damaged passport, 4 photos, application form and travel documents. Said he definitely doesn't need birth cert and gave me a contact number to ring if we get any trouble in Molesworth St tomorrow.

my advice if ur heading to  Molesworth St  is get there as early as you an can or it will be a long wait
