Prices still some way to fall yet imo. While the rate of job losses here in Dublin imo has slowed considerably........ the confidence to buy has yet to return. Will once again come down imo to location and the age of the houses being sold.... the older the better. Problems with the new houses becoming very prevalent at the moment. Reckon another 20% more to fall in Dublin...... with some midland counties without industry/employment having their properties rendered virtually worthless.

As for Apartments....... tomorrow's slums imo by and large except in places like Sandymount, Ranelagh etc.

As of next month I am going to save for a deposit for another house..... will take me (hopefully) about 2 years to do....... a return to the older days of saving for a deposit.
half heard something on the news yesterday - was it a report commissioned by daft.ie - maybe not, but anyhow, apparantly the amount of people (mostly first time buyers) seeking mortgage approval has drastically risen in the past few weeks.
They are not actually going out and buying yet, it looks like they are getting ready for 'quick' buys if a good/well priced opportunity comes up - or maybe again these people believe that the stamp duty will fall/go.

Unless there is another bomb hitting the economy, I honestly dont think the house prices will fall too much further. Heard someone else say that the other day too - cant rem where or who (on the telly).
Anyhow I wouldnt listen to them on the telly or the economists or esp me.

If you see a house thats ideal, then bag it if you can. Better than paying a wee bit more for a house you like/love than pay 10 or 20 grand less for a house you dont really like (or thats not in an area you like).

I'll be hanging on to see about the stamp duty thing though at the next budget...

Presumably FTBs seeking mortgage approval are getting ready for the Zoe fire sale.

Withdrawals from bank of mum and dad being lined up if they have anything left.

Anyone looked at www.thepropertypin.com or www.housepricecrash.co.uk ?
