The GAA have confirmed the dates, venues and start times of the ESB All-Ireland Minor Football Championship quarter-finals, which will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Two attractive double-headers will go ahead on Saturday, August 1 and Monday, August 3 respectively.

The action gets underway at Kingspan Breffni Park in Cavan on Saturday with Ulster champions Armagh facing Kildare in a 2pm fixture.

Armagh beat Down last Sunday by three points in the Ulster decider in Clones, claiming their 12th provincial crown and a first since 2005.

At 4pm on August 1, Leinster champions Dublin will clash with Down. Dublin came through a tough Leinster campaign and only shook off fellow Leinster finalists Kildare after extra-time in a provincial final replay at Dr Cullen Park last Saturday.

Meanwhile, O'Moore Park in Portlaoise will stage the second set of quarter-finals on Bank Holiday Monday (August 3).

The winners of this Sunday's Connacht final replay between Mayo and Roscommon (Dr. Hyde Park, throw-in 5pm) will face beaten Munster finalists Tipperary at 2pm.

At 4pm that day in Portlaoise, the losers of the Connacht decider will play Munster champions Kerry. The Kingdom have not won an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship since 1994.

Swine flu causes minor game delay

The Mourne County youngsters were beaten in the Ulster final
Down's All-Ireland minor gaelic football quarter-final with Dublin has been postponed because of a suspected swine flu outbreak in the Mourne squad.

Twenty players and two members of the management team have been affected by the illness.

The match had been scheduled to take place on Saturday and no new date has yet been arranged for the fixture.

A number of the Down minor panel developed swine flu symptoms last week and have not recovered sufficiently.

The Down County GAA Board said that players had been advised to follow National Health Service guidelines.

Down were narrowly beaten by Armagh in the Ulster Minor Final.

A player developed symptoms following a training session last week and subsequent planned training sessions have been cancelled.

The Armagh team which played Down have reported no flu-like symptoms.

Next Saturday's ESB All-Ireland Minor Football Championship quarter-final between Down and Dublin has been postponed at the request of the Down County Board, following the spread of swine flu symptoms in the Down squad.

Twenty playing members of the Down minor panel and two members of the management team were taken ill last week, amid fears of a possible outbreak of the H1N1 virus.

With a number of the player still recovering, the GAA have agreed to postpone the quarter-final fixture which was due to take place on Saturday at Kingspan Breffni Park in Cavan.

A GAA statement, released this evening, read: "The postponement was granted in the context of a serious viral infection within the Down minor panel, which has affected the overwhelming majority of the Down players.

"The Association has pointed out that as a general policy it does not grant postponements on the basis of illness to players.

"However, having taken advice from relevant medical personnel, and taking into consideration the sheer number of players involved and general concerns expressed with respect to the Swine flu pandemic, the CCCC (Central Competitions Control Committee) felt that the granting of a postponement in the unique circumstances was the only logical course of action."

No date has, as yet, been confirmed for a re-fixture.
