There once was a woman from Madrid,

Prado and Reina Sofia. Retiro is a nice park for lunch, although the heat might be unbearable at this time of year. Walk down the Castellana to Cibeles is nice, lots of impressive building and surprising amount of green about the place. Sol has lots of trendy bars and nightclubs but is also probably the most expensive place in the city. The Metro is probably the best I've ever been on, think you can get a ten journey ticket for about 8 euro.

ride the metro for an entire day - I swear there are more beautiful women in madrid than any other city I have ever been in  - just sitting watching(rooting at) women all day there over a few beers is a perfect day
I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight

There are tourist pub crawls on - check the hostels to find out when - plenty of American wemen on them

Take plenty of sun protection, it'll be boiling hot.  Worth a dander to the river right bang in the miiddle of the city ... must be the most pathetic river of any capital city in the world but there's great view of the Vincente Calderon and the Mahou brewery ... Bernebeu is also worth a visit, mightily impressive ... underground is excellent, best way to get around

A very spread out city. Suppose you have to visit the Galleries and see the Guernica painting. Went to the bullfighting....... utterly boring and expensive.

Go to Toledo or Avila for the day.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B
