I used to be able to copy cd's onto my computer and burn them onto blank cds.  Now they don't work.  I don't why.  I am still doing in on Windows Media player, onto a sony blank cd.  In my car cd player most times these cd's just won't work.  Very occasionally they will work before crackling and breaking down.

Can anyone suggest what to do?

How old are the CDs?

Would you be shocked f I told you they only last a few years? Even less if exposed to direct sunlight or heat.

If the cds are good when they are burnt on the computer and will play in a cd player around the house but not in the car cd player.
Car cd player is suspect

If the discs burnt on the computer will not play in any player, then the computer cdrw is suspect.

The average computer cdrw  is  of cheap quality and don't cost much to buy.

Yeah the slightest scratch wrecks homemade CD's/DVD's.
