Is there a book with these fables available?  Finn McCuil, Oisin, na Fianna etc?

My favourite that I remember is "Bodach an Chota Lochna?"  I think we were told it in Irish as I remember "na smeara duibhe" and him throwing them at a smart arse prince so hard that he turned his head around.

Were these in an Irish book we did in National school or where?

The Trian in Armagh has short books like Finn Mc Cumhail, St Brigid's Cloak, Children of Lir, Salmon of Knowledge, Tir na nOg and St Patrick for something like £3 or £4 each.  They are fairly short, but they are a favourite of my 3 year old daughter.

Edit - the books I am talking about are the ones at the bottom half of this page:

I'm a huge Michael Scott fan, some of his horror stories are brilliant. There are a ton of books out there on the subject. Just at a glace behind me on the book shelf I'd recommend all of the following:

The book of fairy and folk tales of Ireland compiled by WB Yeats
Myths and legends of Ireland Samuel Lover and Thomas Croker
Celtic myths and legends T.W Rolleston
Celtic fairy tales collected by Joseph Jacobs
The Celtic Twilight myth, fantasy and folklore WB Yeats
Irish druids and old Irish Religions James Bronwick
Erinsaga Jim Fitzpatrick
The book of conquests Jim Fitzpatrick
The silverarm Jim Fitzpatrick
Celtic myths, celtic legends R.J. Stewart
Legends of the Celts Frank Delaney
Complete Irish mythology Lady Gregory
The high deeds of Finn McCool Rosemary Suttcliffe
Irish folk and Fairytales omnibus Michael Scott
Great folk and fairy tales of Ireland Mary McGarry

I remember when I first went to Japan in 1995, the locals were very proud of their literary history and boasted that it would be difficult to find a country with as old, if not older a literary tradition.  I was pleased to disappoint them.
To find his equal an Irishman is forced to talk to God!

Eileen O'Faolain's Irish Sagas and Folk Tales might be a bit more accessible for kiddies. More so than Lady Gregory, maybe.
