Laptop - Firewire question!

Thinking of splashing out on a new laptop.  Am I right in thinking that an IEEE-1394 connection means a firewire connection?  (Need firewire for the camcorder).

Yes, you'll most likely get a mini-Firewire socket on the laptop meaning you'll probably have to get another lead for your camcorder i.e. they usually supply a mini-to-ordinary lead with camcorders but you'll need a mini-to-mini for the laptop. Can get them in Maplins for about a tenner.
