Surprised this hasn't been mentioned to-day but this appointment is not good news for the GAA. Already he has said that he will not attend functions at Stadia "named after terrorists" (by the way isn't it time that the statue in honour of the gun running terrorist from Dublin was removed from the front of Stormont).

You got to hand it to the DUP, just when you think they can't appointment someone worst to the department..........................  they manage it. McCausland is a complete joke.

The Irish News has listed some of his outspoken remarks over the last 20 years and the man is a complete tool.

I'm sure the many Ulster Scots bodies were drooling into their begging bowls when they heard the news.

More culture in a pot of yogurt.

I'd say they were on semis alright...

After the last eejit I thought we couldn't get a more hostile, ignorant imbecile as minister...obviously I was wrong...Like many I look forward to more taxpayers cash being pi55ed away on the North Antrim accent

talktothehand

he's a total Sh*tbag!! not welcome at gaa matches. he talks balls about the names of some gaa clubs when nearl;y every band where i live is named after some loyalist who does not know which wire goes to which ;D

T Fearon

There is also a statue of Ned Carson outside our (temporary) Parliament Buildings, a gun running loyalist terrorist who commmited treason, and suppressed the will, by armed insurrection, of two sovereign governments, yet Mc Causland never  complains about this.

Benny Tierney's point of view on this in today's Irish News

QuoteIn your face Nelson

I DON'T feel that the news that Nelson McCausland has replaced that well-known Gaa fanatic Gregory Campbell as Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure will make a lot of difference to the DUP's somewhat twisted and insulting view of the GAA.

Already he has made numerous excuses as to why he won't be attending any Gaa matches during his tenure as minister, so much so that I feel I too must make a stand.

Therefore, I have decided that I will not be attending any Linfield matches next season. So there
