Man denies owning cannabis parcel

A man from Derry has denied owning a parcel containing £250,000 worth of cannabis resin, which was delivered by post from South Africa.

Gary Vanderkamp, 30, from Meadowview Crescent, is accused of possession and possession with intent to supply.

A defence lawyer told the city's Crown Court on Monday that discussions were continuing on whether the defendant was aware of the contents of the package.

The case was adjourned, and the defendant was released on bail.

I know a lad called Martin McGuinness who reckons his name was not always helpful when applying for jobs.

When I first came to Reno one of the girls who had been here before me, had her boyfriend mailing her ecstacy from Ireland (it was much cheaper allegedly and this was pre 9/11 - well it wasnt pre, it was right after and they hadnt implemented the new security measures). It was always addressed to a guy who had lived there previously.

Not outside the realms of possibility that this guy is innocent, however its also possible he likes to smoke and sell weed.

I remember reading a few years back that anything posted became property of hmrc until they were delivered.  Could they not be done for possesion with intent in this regard?

I think Ed Byrne uses that joke in his stand-up.

Is that who it was?  From a serious legal point of view though surely this case isnt going to get too far unless the PPS can prove the defendant knew and was going to use what we in the package and its just as like a case against hmrc would suceed

Also how do they find it? Do they search packages or what?

Like could you get a small amount of canabis posted from the Netherlands safely?

I remember reading a story one time from a girl in England called Vicky Pollard (she wasn't bad looking) who said that Little Britain had made her life hell.

Also I seen from an Australian comedy show a stunt where two domestic flight tickets were booked from Sydney Airport in the names of Al Kyder and Terry Wrist
. A member of the crew checked in both tickets at an automatic check-in computer and then deliberately missed the boarding call (and the flight), causing the names to be read out across the airport PA system for a final call.
