I think Joe's article can be perfectly summed up by the response's to this thread - cycnicism, dismissal, insults, etc.

I think what he says makes sense and what he was talking about is that the GAA is losing alot of what it was about. Now half of the battles are taking place in the admin rooms, court rooms and in the press. This is prob to do with the "professional" standards been set and these are prob taking the GAA down a dangerous path.

Kernan's comments on the DRA are a little strange considering when he was Armagh senior football manager he used one of their judgements to play players who would have otherwise had been suspended.

Who?

Bogball XV

there are some reasonable comments in there re the abuse of the appeals process and the lack of fair play prevalent in our games, however regarding the lack of goading etc in the rugby stadium after the game, I reckon that's because whilst it's great if our team wins, we're not really that bothered at the end of the day.  Now if the pints were to run out, we'd see real panic!

Sigh. We can deal in whatabouterys all day long or we can acknowledge, as the article is pointing out that counties (including your own) are ripping the piss out of the disciplinary system at this stage.
That's just, like your opinion man.

To draw the conclusion that Joe Kernan 'doesn't want to allow others the right to this process' is a gross misrepresentation. He said 'Do we,for instance, really need to have recourse to the Disputes Resolution Authority as often as we do?'.

I hate to rain on your parade but i don't believe armagh have ever gone to the DRA

That seems to be a well-used term in Tyrone.
