I used to woprk in a bank branch for 8 years and i hated c**ts like ye. Always complaning about everything to a customer rep. in a branch as if they make all the policy decisions and have access to every little thing.

well who else has joe public to complain to? You are the face/voice of the bank and of course you're going to get the abuse.

Just back from my branch there....One amount of £111 has been taken from my a/c and the other £111 is pending...Waiting for AIB to claim it....As they didn't claim it along with the first one they are telling me that it must be a mistake on their part and now i have to wait for AIB to claim the money or cancell it...Which can apparently be up to 6 month...but i have now done some ATM query thing which can take up to 2 weeks...Its a complete joke even the guy in the branch says he knows that i couldn't have made the both transactions but can't cancel it now!!!

A few weeks back i got about 6 calls from the First trust and the letters the whole works saying that my account was over drawn by x amount. So i eventually phoned them up and i told them that i was only using the £100 over draft system that i had used on thousands of occassions. They told me there was no over draft account set up on my account. So i ask them then how was i able to use it so many times. We eventually worked out that it was an account that i had sat up when i was a student (thus incurring no charges for going into a 100 overdraft) But this muppet on the other end was still telling me that there was no over draft.

I let him rant on then ( and this is a clinker) he said that i should set up an overdraft account (with charges) No it would take you to be the brightest spark in the world to work out that you don't replace an over draft account that is free of charge with one that is. I told him i would sort it out. I never bothered my ass but i got one more letter from them concerning the same thing about two months ago. I phoned up again, this time i got a guy again. I explain the whole thing and he told me to let it ride because it is free of charge. I haven't heard anymore from them.
I never forget a face but in your case I will make an exception.

I worked in a branch for a couple of years as well and this is completely right. I used to love it when customers came in and said im changing banks which left me thinking to myself please go ahead I couldnt give a flying f**k if you do or not! People used to throw that "threat" out a couple of times per week.

Why the need for abuse though?  You can make your point without abusing, the people you're abusing are only doing a job.

The customer is always right my arse, I think the hell with that bollocks and those working behind a counter in a bank or shop or wherever should be able to say what they want to the customers.  Most people only abuse them because they know the person they are abusing can't answer back.

Have you ever tried dealing with BT customer service?

Mine too. I had a different one today, though. So, for balance ....

I rang them to ask what broadband speed I was paying for, as I wasn't sure. She said "there seems to be a problem - you were downgraded from 2 kbps to 1 in November". So I went off on one - nobody told me, what are they playing at, I'm still paying the same, etc. So she said she'd check and call me back. She did (amazing). "I was wrong", she said. "It's not that you were downgraded - you weren't upgraded to 3 kbps when you should have been - free. But we've done it now". And I checked and they had! It's probably a trick, though. There's some catch I haven't thought of. They've never done anything right before.

I worked in a bank for a few years too, glad I don't anymore, the abuse you got from customers was unreal, usually because they had a bad day & needed someone to moan to, I say go get a fckn shrink to let your abuse out on & see how much that costs you. That whole customer is right is American bullshit, the serial complainer customer tended to be wrong most of the time, usually they forgot a transaction, they where blatently lieing or they where drunk at the time of the transaction & in fact it was more than often the customers who never complained who had genuine fck ups on their accounts & they usually where very nice & gratefull when you noticed it and went out of the way to rectify the problem. As soon as I finished in the bank I made sure to go into their shops, pubs, surgeries, garages, ring their civil servant departments and moan about every possible little fck up they made, they got the point.

I would leave the amount you transfered below the credit limit incase they add it on...They will then charge you if you go over the limit. I think there's a limit as to when they can claim the money from the transfer possibly up to 6 mths...Not 100% sure though. I know if you pay for something on debit card the company you pay have 6 mths to claim the money..It just sits as a pending transaction until they claim the money.
