both donnelly and rafferty seem decent enough club players and everyone is looking at different qualities from players i suppose. my reasoning on donnelly is simple enough. he has been very poor in the McKenna cup and his man was excellent on sat. i think defenders have to be capable of putting their man out of the game first and foremost and this charging forward is a good bonus then. donnelly's man was involved in everything before the sendings off.

rafferty is a bit different. he's definately pacey and game but i think he's about 24/25 and i am wondering how he has gotten this far without working out that if you are in the forward line every time the ball goes in there you are more often than not in the way and if you're not in the defence when the ball goes in there you're not in a position to defend.

has this situation arisen by the half backs being told to get forward more often I wonder? The cries of a large portion of the armagh support have been for a more attacking system.

Maybe. Though we could neither attack nor defend well saturday night and that against a very ordinary laois team compared to laois teams of the recent past.
