A Turkish Airlines plane has crashed while trying to land at Amsterdam's Schipol airport and broke into three pieces.

Plane crashed at Amsterdam's Schipol Airport

The aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, split when it hit the ground next to the runway.

The Boeing 737-800 was on a flight from Istanbul to Amsterdam.

It came down in a field outside the airport perimeter.

One person has reportedly been killed and at least 20 others hurt.

But as many as 50 people are thought to have escaped injury, according to reports.

Aviation analyst Jane's World Airlines Philip Butterworth-Hayes, from Jane's World Airlines, said:"It was new generation of 737s, with new engines and a very good safety record."

"The aircraft is made in three particular barrels - a middle, rear and front section.

"The plane doesn't appear to have broken before landing, and was in pretty good shape when touching down. The pilot must have been able to control the aircraft right up to landing."

He added: "There doesn't seem to be too much fire damage, but considerable structural damage at the rear.

"It may have landed with its nose up. The damage at the back was worse than the front, which implies it landed at a fairly steep angle."

Can these channels not get their facts straight before they reports these figures as there may be family of the passengers watching Sky News etc.

It's not really the channels that get these facts but news agencies that sell them the channels news ie. Reuters. As more/latest details emerge the agencies sell them off to the highest bidders first, so thats why you get inconsistencies between stories.
