Their sense of omerta is really watertight. RTE Radio went a step further yesterday  to really confuse us, in their weekly Sunday Sports programme, by naming a candidate whom we know will not get the job!! Hopefully the County Board do know!!

I'm starting to think they don't know...feels like they're frantically running round behind closed doors trying to pick up the pieces after being turned down by orourke and not being able to appoint RG. There are rumours of horan, fitzmauirce, moran and keane. I haven't yet heard one credible source name someone from within Derry who has been nominated for the job. Any ideas?

I would imagine with the way the process has been handled up to now, it wouldn't be a massively attractive prospect for an outside manager come in. Yes there is a good squad to work with but the drama seems to follow them around.

Coupled with some of the best facilities on the island, what else matters? ... Unless the new manager brings his own drama, what drama would their be?

Other than the fact that any manager coming in might be what, 2nd or 3rd choice at this point if not further down the pecking order.

Or the fact that clearly an element of the playing squad & administration wanted RG back.

But other than that its been pretty smooth sailing  ;D

Can't be a genuine question, and that's not strictly what I said

Sure whoever comes in now, it'll be their choice, does it matter how far down the pecking order it is? It's a plum job. The problem is, where are the available plum managers?

Owenbeg has everything these days, 4g pitch, video analysis room, state of the art gym, even the canteen which wasn't very old has been renovated, 4 training pitches if I'm counting right plus the stadium pitch. On the administrative side the offices and meeting rooms have been recently renovated to

Only someone extremely immature would worry about whether or not they're first choice. The bottom line is it's a plum job with a team who are reigning league champions, won 2 of the last 3 Ulster championships, been in 2 AI semi finals in the last 3 years, have won a couple of u17 AIs in the last few years and have 2 AI club champions in the last 3 years. The county board are getting stick but most decisions they've made in the last few years have worked out well. The worst thing we can do is rush this decision. We wanted MOR but he obviously felt it wasn't the job for him. The sooner we get someone the better but it's important to cast the net widely to get the best possible candidate.

I haven't been up there so I don't know but must get up to a game maybe this year at the business end of championship.

Only too happy to console myself with the fact the county board don't just spend a fortune on Managers they also look after the players  ;)

Who excately was put forward by the clubs, any club actually ask the man in question if they were interested. O'Rourke was always holding out on the Tyrone job, simple fact of travelling 5 mile up the road, to 50odd to Owebeg.

Don't worry, your county board has a firm plan B already in place, two ex county players. You'll have a management team...but is it a solution that will excite and unite the players?

Who though? Cassidy tried and failed, Barton tried and failed, what other ex county men are managing who would be interested? Gilligan with armagh, muldoon probably stepping away having been in background for last 4 or 5 years. God knows who the duo will be. 🤣
