Van Gaal did say during the summer that it normally takes him about 3 months to get any team he has managed, to play to his style.. When he took over at Bayern Munich, they only won 5 of their first 13 games. Yet, by the end of the season, they had won the Bundesliga and lost the Champions League Final. That won't happen this season, but he has made his mark wherever he has gone, and there is no reason to believe, as of now, that his time at Old Trafford will be any different.

There are plenty of reasons why it might be different this time around. One is taking over a team that finished 2nd the previous season, two points off the top, versus taking over a team that finished 7th.

I think Van Gaal also said taking over from Moyes was a more difficult job. Why a suitable replacement wasn't brought in straight away after Ferguson remains a mystery.

The Mayo team are much improved on the team that played Galway. Not only have they clicked as a unit, Cunniffe and Boylan are two big additions so I'm a lot more confident in them now than I was at the start of the year. The only problem is, if this Kerry team are all they are hyped up to be then they may be too strong for us. We shall see.

If they are all they are hyped up to be, they should stay out on the field for the senior team as well.

I'd have to agree. But I think it shows our far Kerry have fallen at underage recently that they are so excited about a team making an AI Semi-Final

Bit like our 2011 team which fell short narrowly. Our 2012 weren't regarded as being half as good and they actually won the AI Title.

That Dublin team in 2011 was the most hyped minor team I seen and in fairness to the Dubs they did manage to win the minor All Ireland the following with less hype.

The way Mayo played in their last three games will not be good enough to beat Kerry even the Dubs had to peak themselves to overcome Kerry last year. Dublin's form was good going into that semi final while Mayo are expected to turn their form on like a tap, I think the last side to do that was Kerry themselves five years ago.

Back home here in Mayo, there is a very low key atmosphere. Less than a week away from our AI semi final clash with Kerry.  Many feel we have a chance of beating Kerry for the first time in 18 years. Actually many fans are enjoying this year. There is no pressure. And I mean no pressure. As far as all are concerned Dublin have the title won.

Looks like a lot of people don t get it! Mayo don t do Dark Ages. The issue is do we lose the semi or AI final? Either way we will probably be back in last 4 next year.

Look, Horan has been a fine manager but if he had 5% more he could have won 2 AIs by now. He went with his convictions but they were not necessarily the bet options. As long as Mayo appoint competent managers we will be always be thereabouts. Dark Ages me hole. Where ye from Blanket?
