General discussion / Blackberry Help
« on: January 03, 2013, 09:03:34 PM »
Lads, i have a Blackberry 9320, i have a media card in it with approx. 300 odd songs on it. Every now and again the phone re-boots its self out of the blue. I have read on other boards that the media card can cause this issue, does anyone on here know anything about this and any ways to resolve it. I only use the media side of things when out running along with a running app.

All the music is downloaded on to the media card from itunes. the media card has lots of space for the music.
I may add i am no genius when it comes to this, be warned....

Thanks.

GAA Discussion / Respect for the Sam Maguire
« on: November 08, 2011, 01:37:26 PM »
Maybe i'm turning into a grumpy old codger, but i was out last night with some clients. We ended up in Coppers (paying the price today, let me tell you). Anyway, a brother of one of the Dublin footballers had the Sam Maguire with him and a lot of people wanted their photo taken with it. Fair enough. But the amount of drink that was spillled into it, the way it was thrown around the place and the general lack of respect shown to the cup was i have to say was eye opening. Speaking as a GAA man i think this fine trophy and what it stands for in Irish life deserves a little bettter, than been treated like an empty bean can. Rant over, hangover bubbling nicely now.

General discussion / Buying a used Van
« on: January 28, 2011, 09:28:35 AM »
Lads,
I am in the market for a used Transit, LWB, would prefer a high roof, though not essential. Wont be spending a lot on it, 2-4k pounds, prefer to buy up North. It needs to be fairly tidy etc. Would prefer to buy off a garage/dealer than an auction to be honest. Any recommendations?
Thanks.

General discussion / Quinn Insurance in Administration
« on: March 30, 2010, 12:15:49 PM »
Taken from Rte.ie
Sign of the times i suppose. The curse of Anglo Irish is having some knock on effect across all business sectors.

Tuesday, 30 March 2010 12:11

The High Court has appointed two joint provisional administrators to Quinn Insurance Ltd.

Mr Justice John Cooke made the order following an application by lawyers on behalf of the Financial Regulator.

The application was made under the 1983 Insurance act.

Michael McAteer and Paul McCann from Grant Thornton have been appointed by the High Court to act as the two joint provisional administrators.

They have been instructed to begin their work immediately.

The court heard the Regulator took this action following serious concerns about the way the group was managing its affairs.

The development means the administrators will run the business as a going concern under different management in the interest of policy holders.

The Regulator now has an on-site presence in the company's offices.

The administrators will run only the general insurance businesss and Quinn's life insurance business remains unaffected.

General discussion / Business attitudes in the current recession.
« on: March 24, 2010, 02:42:28 PM »
I am listening to IBEC and the SME business lobbies on the radio every second week talking about the amount of businesses going under due to the credit restrictions put on them by the banks. I wonder however is this the fullstory going on my recent experiences. I work for a reasonably large business, have taken pay cuts etc. so i know there is without doubt hardship out there, but are some businesses still in the "Celtic tiger era" when it comes to thier business philosophies and practices.

The two recent examples are;
1. I was in the market for a brand new car (VW Golf) in the past few weeks, I went to a large midlands garage at 12.45 to look at the car only to be told by the salesman that is was alomst one o clock and could i come back at 2 to see the car. Needless to say i didn't. Finally, i decided to buy the car from a large dealer in Dublin. I rang him to pay the deposit and asked could i pick up the car on a Saturday, I was told no i couldn't as Saturday was their " new customers day" and they wouldn't be in a position to accomodate me. I told him i was about to pay a deposit but still the answer was no. I went up the North bought the car there and the difference in service was unbelievable, they dropped the car to the house for me (Lisburn to Dublin), 2 years full service free of charge and a full tank of Diesel and still managed to save a few quid.

2. The second experience; i am looking to get some work done around the house (approx. 3 grand), the amount of companies i have contacted about this work and between promises of call backs which haven't happened and lads on holidays is astonishing. I have been trying to get someone for a month now and still no joy, i know 3 grand isn't a massive job but i thought someone would be interested.

I am wondering if other posters on here have had similar experiences and are businesses really desperate for work or did the easy credit available to them make them lose their sharpness and their hard work ethic.

General discussion / John Gormley and our incompetent Govt.
« on: January 07, 2010, 09:51:42 PM »
Just watching prime time now, my blood is boiling, people isolated in rural Ireland with the snow and his only answer when asked could the army help these people, his f**king answer was well the army aren't been used in any juristiction yet and local councils are doing a fine job. How out of touch are these idiots. He was only bothered that Miriam called him "the minister for snow" t**ts the lot of them.

General discussion / Unbelievable No.2
« on: December 17, 2009, 12:48:21 PM »
It seems that a new 300 million Euro by-pass in Carlow will not be opened until after Christmas following representations from a petrol station owner on the old route to the minister of Transport. The NRA said the road is ready to go next Monday, but the minister won't sign off on it until early Jan. I can't find a link anywhere but it was discussed just before 8 on Morning Ireland. The reason the minister's department gave for not opening the road was " it's too close to Chriatmas". Good to see the greater good is put before self interest by FF. This country .............................

General discussion / Sunday Sports Show RTE Radio 1
« on: May 11, 2009, 09:04:39 AM »
I have been listening to this show nearly every Sunday since it started about 2 months ago. Is there a more un-cordinated sports show anywhere in the country. Jacqui Hurley and Con Murphy present it. It is embarrasing, she hasn't got a clue about any sport and she keeps missing her cues and is constantly speaking over Con and he really isnt suited to co-presenting. It really is awful stuff. Yesterday was a quite day on the sporting front, how will they cope in the height of the championship? Bring back the old format with just one presenter.
