It came into my head a couple of weeks ago when I heard the Cuckoo. It must be at least fifty years since I last heard it!!

Sadly, the generation that knew every bird and bird song has gone.

It's now left to the ornithologists.

Summer time in my youth in the hills of Donegal. Swallows, skylarks, cuckoos... curlew song every evening, nightjar song at night.

From what I've read, the curlew and nightjar are more or less gone. Cuckoos not far behind them.

Funny heard a cukoo yesterday for the first time in years.

I heard one every morning for the last few weeks not this morning though.

'The Cuckoo comes in April
it sings its song in May.
In the month of June it changes its tune
and in July it flys away.'

Another 950 odd dead in UK hospitals in the last 24hrs but all is ok as Boris has moved into a regular ward and waved at the nurses he pays a pittance to.

He's a fighter is our Boris.

Never fought a thing in his entitled life...

His father is quoted as saying 'he NEARLY took one for the team!'

Any time Iíve needed a hospital visit, it made me realise how bloody fantastic these people are. And I always try to thank as many of them as I could upon leaving, because they do amazing work.

Iíve no idea what theyíre putting up with right now fighting this (and I hope I never find out!), but theyíre doing heroic work. Iím not really religious, but God bless them all.

Plus one.
