GAA Discussion / Re: Would you be in favour of a second tier?
« on: September 19, 2018, 03:05:24 PM »
Nobody ever attended hurling games played by the Louths,  Longfords or Cavans of this world.
I recall a Ros V London Hurling Championship game which took place after we played Cork in football back in 2003.
69 spectators stayed back to watch it.

Few neutrals go to games any more anyways so it will only be followers of the 2 Counties playing  anyway.
Putting a tiered 2 Final along with the Senior Final will mean that only a small number of people from the 2 Counties will be able to attend.
Not much fun for Leitrim or Carlow etc - Wonderful to get to the All Ireland Final but only 2,500 ofor them can see it.
For utm_source to have any hope as a stand alone competition it will need to be officially called "All Ireland Senior B or 2 Football Championship" and be held early enough to allow the winners into the last 12 of the main Championship.
Calling it officially the Dermot Earley/Páidi  O Sé or whoever Cup will nearly guarantee it will be a flop.

The Cavanagh photo was obviously taken and published by himself. It was made deliberately to look worse by doing very little to clean up his face of dried blood before the photo was taken. There appeared to be no broken skin and the blood would therefore have come from the alleged break in his nose.

In other words it was another piece of self promotion to enhance the claims of victimhood in his book.

Sure maybe he bet himself up ::)

One question - when were there more than 9 or 10 teams seriously competing in the Hurling Championship?
3 Counties have won about 80% of them.
Wouldn't we love to have even 6 in the football! !

I meant that 9 or 10 teams are competing in the A championship in hurling, the B championship have teams going up and down but never competing. That would be the same in football if the b championship is brought in. Whoever's in the a championship would push further and further ahead and that can't be reversed. Competing is different than contending.
So you are a prophet?

It's all going to be wonderful,  the Sun will shine every day, will only rain at night,  Bangladesh  and Haiti will strike great trade deals with the yUK, all foreigners will be sent home, GDP will increase at 10% per annum till 2030....
I'm not an expert so I'm probably correct in all the above ::)
