Mayo 's C team would be better than many counties A team. Maybe if tier 2 keeps going the underdogs could be expanded to include players who haven't played Tier 1 championship- provincial excluded.

I might be in a minority but I enjoyed the series. Maybe playing a bigger county is not a great spectacle but it does give a few players a short time in the limelight.  For Mayo I am sure Boylan (?) was glad he could show what he could do. For the underdogs O'Sullivan of Kerry maybe got a chance to show that he could still play inter county if Kerry can forgive his earlier error. From an Armagh point of view it was good to see 3 players involved and Aron McKenna showed he can take a score. He has a tough task though trying to break into the Armagh full forward line.

After his handling of the Mayo v Armagh game I was surprised Deegan got an All Ireland semi final. I also got my money on Kerry once he was appointed.

Still Kerry were by far the better team and deserved to win. Once the pressure came on Tyrone capitulated. For me it is because they are not good enough. They have too many very average players. Their superior fitness together with their horrible game plan are enough to beat other average teams but struggles badly against decent ones.

OK - to summarise, Kerry people reckon they are back on track, Tyrone people blaming the referee and neutrals calling for 5 more years for Mickey Harte.

One Tyrone poster can't deal with it, lift the ball and stamps off home, locking the thread before leaving.

Continue discussion....

What the fcuk with a second thread for the single game, seriously, the one thread is a THREAD, no need for a second.

I think you'll find this thread was opened when the other thread had been locked - temporarily as it turned out

Never been a great fan of this current Tyrone team as I think they have flattered to deceive over the last few years with their superior athleticism and method of play carrying them through on many occasions. Definitely a case of the sum being greater than its parts. With Donnelly leaving will Tyrone fall back? Will Cavanagh quit? Apart from Donnelly , Harte and McShane who are their quality players ? Will Harte continue with tactics which support athleticism over skill ?

So much for clean kerry. Peter harte constantly blocked off the ball in front of the ref and no action taken. Brutal

Kerry were never clean. Not sure why you thought they were...

Never did but listening to kerry fans you would think they were saints.peter harte brought down again in that last tyrone attack

Too many media men to really highlight it.

Saw that Harte was getting blocked off ball regularly. Not so sure on being fouled again at end as he is very adept at falling as the ball comes to him so that the close attending defender looks as if he is coming into the back of him.

Too many Kerry players trying to do it all themselves. Tyrone are very very much more a team. McShane creating havoc.

Did I read Peter Donnelly is quitting Tyrone at end of season to take a post with Ulster Rugby ? Big miss for Tyrone if true.

Only saw second half but I see Deegan had an improved time keeping display.

No mention of Coldricks performance against Tyrone but sure what do you expect.

Maybe because his performance was much more balanced than you can give him credit for. I am no fan of Coldrick and had Tyrone backed to win but I never got the impression he was against Tyrone. One of his better performances.

What chance does a referee have. When one has a decent game he still gets slaughtered. He made a few mistakes but he was generally fair to both teams. When you talk about the McDonnell yellow that is an example of the interpretive nature of the rules. The Roscommon player went down and held his head. In a split second the referee decided that the tackle was therefore a yellow. Too many times players try to con the referee by feigning head injuries. Is that the referees fault or the players? For the record I was roaring at the TV after that challenge for the Roscommon player to get up. After a couple of replays I saw he may well have hit his head on the ground. The referee has no chance.

If you all think Coldrick was poor today you must be comparing him to some phantom GAA referees. He was grand. Didn't have an undue influence on the result and in general was better than many other referees. Maybe if the rules were less interpretive and players played with a bit more honesty matches would pass with much less grief given to the man in the middle.

The lack of fight in Cavan is incredible. Tyrone system works well against most teams but how will it fair against the better teams.

He might have written a good article - I don't know - but I haven't read anything he has written since he did a scathing article on Armagh about 15 years ago ! I'm not starting now either.

(1) We are witnessing the slow demise of the great Mayo team (2) Blame the ref, always the loser's excuse.

Befair much of the criticism of the referee is coming from non Armagh people.

For what it is worth my problem with refereeing is that watching the referees over the Monaghan and Mayo matches you would think 2 different games are being played. We need greater consistency on how games are refereed. Maybe then the games will improve and players/ supporters will be less annoyed.
