United were the best side had most of the ball and created the most chances. Great strike on that winning goal, a goal  good enough to win any final.

LVG is a bluffer. I never was convinced about him, but if he'd at least be honest and admit things will take time, we're in transition etc, then fair enough. But he's trying to bluff everyone and nobody is buying his crap. For the guts of the last 2 seasons, I mute every interview he does and don't read anything he says (That'll show him!). I can't be arsed listening to his crap.
He said during a interview Tuesday night after the Bournemouth game that Man United were in transition and the supporters are expecting too much to soon.

The defence has been a shambles this second half.
No coming back from this.
Liverpool defence has been a shambles for a number of years now.

Hard to believe this is the same Sevilla side that were so poor in the first half. Liverpool on the ropes now but few sides have recovered better than Liverpool on European nights.

When the inevitable happens and Galway are beaten by Mayo we will be in section B of the draw, it doesn't look to daunting apart from the potential of drawing the loser of Monaghan/Donegal. We were lucky with the draw in 2014 and unlucky last year so who knows how it will pan out.
Heard that Fintan O Curraoin has left the panel, big loss if true.

KW had denied it, he's given him a month off to rest an injury that has bothered him throughout the league.
Ya, that's the story released alright  :-X

Looks liek it's all down to Sligo to knock Mayo off the Prenty purch this year.
I don't buy the béal bocht syf. And Mayo could be beaten .

They could indeed. But a home game v Galway and another if we get to play Ros. makes it less likely. Roscommon losing to Sligo last year means that there is a hangover this year if they get to a Connacht final and have to face Mayo. They could have got the McHale Park game out of the way last year.
However if Mayo management are too wise and hold off a bit early summer to peak for later they may well slip up early summer. That's the beauty of sport. Not an exact science. A few Mayo players carrying injuries as well and missed club championship at the weekend. Parsons and Barrett for a start. Barrett having an awful run with tricky injuries recent years. Very important player for us imo.

Dublin the only side I can see beating Mayo this summer and the bookies and the majority of pundits think the same. If a repeat of last years Connacht final then it will be Sligos call on the neutral venue. The Hyde is closed in June to relay the pitch which means a straightforward choice of Pearse stadium.

Prenty will roll out the moneyhat to ensure its in McHale. Sligo won't have the guts to refuse.

Back up a bit.  A Mayo v Sligo final a bit of a long shot. The most likely final pairing is still Mayo v Ros. A lot to be decided yet.
But if it's another Sligo v Mayo final, I cannot see the sense of dragging both sets of supporters to Salthill. A neutral venue was supposed to give Sligo a better chance last year, but could it have been any worse for them in McHale Park?
The reality is more Sligos and Mayos would go to Castlebar and more than likely the result would be the same anyway.

Sligo beat Roscommon last year and the rossies only bet New York by one point a few weeks ago, when you think about it not really a bit of a long shot at all. Regardless of previous results Leitrim and Sligo are entitled to a neutral venue for a Connacht final and a Mayo v Sligo Connacht final in Pearse stadium will attract over 20,000.

A dead rubber game 4 days before the FA Cup final and LVG chooses to play his strongest side tonight? Palace should be pleased with that.

My thoughts exactly.
Looks more rigged than the old voting system. What odds was Ukraine to win?

The Dubs would look a lot less impressive if Mayo were winning their share of Sams.
Winning is in large part psychological and the Dubs have the edge over Kerry as well. But the notion of a thousand year Reich is nuts .

Dublin win because at the minute they have the best team, better footballers and a desire & hunger to keep winning as all great teams do.

Share of SAMs?? Mayo have not won because of physchological shortcomings. More so because they are not as good as Dublin and the year recently Dublin didn't make it to the final they got done by inept& incompetent ref in semi replay v Kerry. No guarantee they would have beaten Donegal in final but you would have fancied them to.
the psych thing is what prevented Mayo from winning 2 of the last 5 all Irelands
the Dubs had it 91 to 94 as well of course...
But they made it over the line in 95

If Mayo can win one Sam they will kick on and develop even further

dubs have been going since 09 maybe so have a lot of mileage on the clock

If they were to win one they would obviously get great lift from it. However Mayo team has as much if not more mileage on the clock than current Dublin team. Recent additions to starting 15 include Byrne, Cooper, Small, McCaffrey, Fenton, Kilkenny, Rock, Mannion & Costello. Another 4 or 5 younger lads close to getting a chance / breaking into the team. Granted the likes of Connolly, Flynn, McCarthy are around 5/6 years now but they're only in mid to late 20s so plenty of football in those guys yet.

Mayo and Kerry will fade away in a year or two. Donegal are nearly gone. Tyrone are moving up a level, but that level is only equal to the teams named. Leinster is a graveyard. The game is up. Dublin will have it all to themselves, Leagues, Leinsters and All Irelands. There is no doubt about it. They hold all the ace cards! Can you tell me one disadvantage they have from the beginning of the League to the All Ireland final? One? Their fans don't want to let on, but in their heart of hearts they know. Everybody knows. Crowds are falling year after year. Even the Dubs won't be bothered in time to come.
Tyrone and Galway will be close enough within 3 or 4 years. Mayo will still be interested. Cork will be around Kerry will have another team. Meath might even come around.
The Dubs will do a Man Utd. Too long with the same winning formula.

If the dubs do a Man United then you are looking at another 15 years of Dublin dominance. Lack of competition could mean that Dublin will stroll to All Ireland titles in the years ahead at least right now Kerry,Mayo been competitive against them.
