General discussion / Re: Car Problems!!
« on: September 29, 2020, 09:58:46 PM »
Have a car - an 07 A4 which generally only does short runs at the moment - worse since lockdown - no long runs at all, generally 3 short 2/3 mile scoots each day for playgroup/school.
There was a new battery put in at the start of year but I've noticed it not as sharp starting in the mornings now when a bit cooler so assuming the battery is getting down.

Assume I can get a charger to top it up but which one should I get?
I see a Halfords Smart Battery Charger which is £60 which seems to cover all types - https://www.halfords.com/motoring/battery-maintenance/battery-chargers-1/halfords-advanced-smart-battery-charger-plus-238350.html

Then there are other ones on Amazon, alot of them around £20.
Any recommendations on which one to go for?

Take it for a good 8-10 mile drive once a week. Should charge the battery sufficiently and will also do the car a world of good.

And of course the Chinese economy will grow this year, it did have a lockdown but it got the job done and the economy came back.

Yep - fundamentally the quicker you intervene and the heavier that intervention - the better you will be in the long run.

The west at large continue to dither and dilute measures and unfortunately this winter (without any vaccine) is likely to see grim statistics as a result.

https://www.itv.com/news/2020-09-25/us-coronavirus-expert-dr-anthony-fauci-cautiously-optimistic-we-will-have-vaccine-by-christmas

Unfortunately (and somewhat counter intuitively) this could be quite bad timing.

A vaccine available in quantities of a few million this winter could lead to folks largely dismissing measures and going back to normal life thinking "its all right, there is a vaccine now" - but with absolutely no chance of herd immunity being built up due to the insignificant number of vaccinations available, it'd then be a bit of a disaster in terms of virus spread.

Hopefully not of course, but its something you could easily see happening.

Especially in the US you could see Trump declaring victory because of a vaccine that would not be available in any quantity until summer 2021 and everyone having a great Christmas on this basis, leading to lockdown January and many people dying a few weeks from a vaccine being available.

He could be gone by then.... fingers crossed.

Is there a better club championship in Ireland? I doubt it.

Our minors qualified for a championship final after a battle against strabane up in Strabane (was never going to be anything else up there) credit where credit is due strabane had the homework done after a bit of a timbering in the league campaign. Our boys showed mighty spirit at the start of the second half to get pull themselves back into the game.  Omagh now in the championship final sunday fortnight who are the only team to hold that team to a draw all year with the league final against ardboe next wednesday.

On another note if you get a chance go on Teamtalk Twitter or facebook and check out the goal scored by Barney gormleys young girl last night in the minor girls final. Class act

I was up at the minor girls championship final last week. She is unreal. A fantastic player!

Any of yiz watching the World Seniors on at the minute? You get it on the red button or iplayer.

White bate Hendry yesterday in the semi, clearing a 130 in the process. Looks like he'll be playing Doherty in the final tonight. Best of 9.

More entertaining than the World Championship.

Snippets coming out and it seems to have been serious enough. Possible aggravated assault charge

So serious that he has been cleared to fly home.

Shock jock tv show.

Qho are the expects? That's the question.

Great news. Very hard for the world of work to get back to any sort of normality unless children are at school.

Sanchez loan deal to inter to become permanent. No transfer fee but the burden of paying 400k a week for such a flop is no more.

Dortmund know they are dealing with a clueless Woodward and will likely get 20 to 30m more than Sancho is worth. Its money that would normally go into the Glazers pocket so who cares if the fee is inflated so long as he delivers in the manner that Bruno has.

This is exactly why I can’t understand why Utd supporters get into conversations about player prices. I couldn’t give a fcuk if he costs £300m.

Sancho deal seems to be gathering pace. Looks like a very exciting young winger. Would be a great addition but how will it effect Greenwood’s development?

Paddy Raff... if Jamie Bryson gets his way lol
That’s no great loss.

His TV stuff is middling but the stuff on LAD was first class.

Someone had this bet he or she won't be too pleased with Schmeichel.

LOL. Nightmare.

I think it is time for him to be moved on too. Not good enough to be a Utd player anymore.
