Obviously a few lads taking the piss on here with votes for the last 3 managers. Between big Ron and the Doc for me. Went for Atkinson. He was a little unlucky in 1985/86 with Robbo's dislocated shoulder and Hughes being unsetlled by the transfer to Barcelona. That was a really good team.

They used to beat Liverpool regularly. Talented midfield and attack. And Paul McGrath.

I remember them coming close in the UEFA Cup, then a very serious competition, one year.

And didn't they start one season with ten wins or something, until Liverpool drew at Old Trafford - might have been the year Liverpool did the double, 85-86? I think the wheels came off, big time, that season and Atkinson never recovered.

I think it was the 1983/84 Cup Winners Cup you're thinking of. Knocked out Maradona's Barcelona in the quarter final on a glorious night in Old Trafford with a 3-0 win to overturn a 0-2 first leg deficit. Narrowly lost out to Juventus who I think had Platini, Boniek and Rossi in the subsequent semi final.

It was 1985/86 that they had 10 wins from 10 to start the season, a draw with Luton breaking the run. Just chekced there and it was 13 wins out of 15 to start the season. Lost 6 gamers out of 10 from December 21st to March 15th and were down to 3rd. Robson's injury and Hughes going totally out of form after being sold to Barcelona (was announced near the end of the season but had been agreed over Christmas from memory) major reasons for the drop off. Big Ron was gone in November.

I was at that game, was at the Arsenal match that weekend, think won 3-0 or so.

Donít worry, we have employed a full time polisher as by the time he finishes polishing all our trophies, the first one is covered in dust 😉

I know who your talking about...that lad working 6 days a week in Kilcoo..goes to Burren for a half hour on Sunday  ;D

Just curious here, what yous actually win?

Right, so excluding Giggs, too short a period, and Fergie, who has been the better manager. we will see how it goes.

actually a pretty sad bunch IMHO.

Can I add that this is complete and utter tripe. Even if they come back and win this he has to go. Enough is enough

Lot of jealousy from Burren and Warrenpoint clubs , Carryduff deserve their win, if they have a couple of players from other clubs, so what , they will go back to their own clubs , unlike Burren who actively pursue young players from neighbouring clubs , good luck to Carryduff in Ulster .
Hearing there were altercations in the Holylands on Sunday
night between Bryansford&Carryduff players after the U21 Final.

There was indeed and one fella took a hell of a beating.

We use Klubfunder for registration, ticket sales for ballots and events plus club gear orders. the registration is a tad annoying sometimes but a lot easier than doing nights. We use stripe and pay around a 1.5% charge. It also does lotto and last man standing for fund raisers

IFC was end to end stuff at times. 1-17 to 3-13, 34 scores as opposed the 5 - 4 Antrim game. It wasnt for the faint hearted either, squeeky bum time indeed, but we got there. Not a bad way to end our season in Down for the club. Now to give Ulster a lash.

General discussion / Re: What's your relationship with alcohol?
« on: October 16, 2018, 01:07:59 PM »
very open and honest thread and has made me think a lot.

my father, god rest him, was an alcoholic at 16 and gave it up when he was 18 when he met a good woman, but he always said he was an alcoholic. he hated me drinking but it never stopped me, over drank when a youngster and as people have said thank god there was no such thing as mobiles.

would drink on a Friday and Saturday night, not usually to excess but what is too much? As a youngster I had those never again moments, which were consigned to the bin when I recovered.

Would anybody know what is the general rule if thumb for breaking a phone contract - cost wise? I'm only 5 months into a 2 year deal with Three.

Iíve found that it was remaining months x monthly cost less the VAT. That was a few years ago so Iím not sure if itís still the way they do it. Iíd say itíll be costly unless your monthly fee is low.
Yip that what I was quoted from 3 as well. Cant wait to get away from 3, live in south Belfast and signal is pathetic. Thinking of a Huawei as the camera seems to be one of the best around and 128gb to boot

On a lighter note. Congtatulations to our Minor hurlers who won the championship yesterday for the first time in our history. Now the hard bit, keeping these players together and challange for senior titles in years to come. I know it doesnt work like that, but those have to be out aspirations. Think small, stay small
