« on: July 04, 2019, 12:31:04 PM »
Anyone going to post what was said?

Agreed poor form from the paper publishing it without giving a name, sensationalises discontent within the county in my view.
tbf Irish news has really gone to the dogs
used to be a quality paper
no longer though

Armagh absolutely love the late hard fist into the player disguised as a tackle after the foul has already been called. The management team were experts at it too. Is wasnít picked up off the grass
Why donít you f**k off
If you gamble nothing to day constructive
Stay off the board
That was a decent game two fair teams
We left it in the pitch
Disappointing

Should be a good game. The game against us in Portlaoise was needless to say the highlight, the only highlight, of last Summer. Both teams then were very open at the back which made for a high scoring game in 27 degree heat. Based on the score Armagh conceded against Cavan, you would have to say that is still a big issue. Against an attacking team like Mayo that commands a lot of possession, that could again lead to a big score conceded. Armagh began the season at around the same level as Down, but based on Monaghan result those games have likely brought them on, so should be close enough at the end. Extra time would not surprise.
definitely think if our injuries clear up armagh have a  good chance, we are playing a nice style of football which while somewhat open at the back allows our forward line to express themselves.
agreed subject to the referee it should be a good open game.

Tough draw for us, Armagh are improving while we look to be waning. They'll fancy their chances of taking down a "big" team here I'd say.

Have we ever played in championship before?
armagh have more than a punchers chance, we played well last week and Mayo will play a style that suits us.
dont be surprised if we pull off a shock.
although we need Murnin and Grimley fit

I see Ciaran Branagan from Down is the ref, As refs go I think he's good, though you wouldn't need much of a ref to spot the fouls in the Armagh tackling.
tbf Main Street Monaghan are privy to the old sneaky fouling as well.
Brannigan is fine as a Ref though he should spot both sides at the dark arts.

I expect this to be the dirtiest game of the championship by a long shot. A minimum of 5 red cards.
good for you.

mainstream reporting of teh monies coming into Dublin isdefinitely going to start putting pressure on Central Council to realise that the dublin monopoly on funding is killing football.

Happy enough for Monaghan to get Armagh in Clones, Armagh look to be in better shape than us, still, as it stands now it's hard to see either side getting through the next round.

6.25% chance of this being the draw the teams ended up with. Initially I thought it was the worst possible draw but now Iím coming round on it. Win and itís a sign of progress, loose and the pressure might become too much on an already beleaguered manager. Iíd rather a game like this than a handy draw to round 4 or beyond where we might have received some tankings.
tbf am content with this draw as well, if we cant beat them( and i am not sure Armagh can ) then we are better off out of it as other teams will give us a trimming down the line.

The players lined up for the throw in, McVeety put out his hand to shake hands with Morgan and got a shoulder to the chest for his troubles so Dara gave him a few shoves in return. Morgan then fouled McVeety trying to go through him on the ground and Cavan got a score from the free. Then in response to more pulling and dragging off the ball Dara pushed him and Morgan pushed Dara in the face, inexplicably got a yellow and he got moved off him and then subbed when it was clear he was a walking liability. And of course you go to the umpire when you've just been struck in the face, you're entitled to look for fair play from the officials.

But yes, McVeety should cut out the crap....

As for saying Grimley went to kick the ball as McKiernan dived on it, since when does a player draw the boot on a ball loose ball instead of going to win it? He deliberately drew the boot on it because he saw McKiernan going to win it, clearly deliberate dangerous play.

The Sunday game are commending Armagh for defensive discipline and you're admitting that they had 1 deserved red and could have easily had 2 more. Interesting indeed.

If you think Grimley deliberately went to hurt McKernan you are way out of line. Jamie Clarke drew the boot on the ball in front of goal - who was he trying to hurt?

As for the comments on the reds I was trying to give a view on what is possible and not what I thought was correct.

He doesn't need to try to hurt him for it to be red. He needs to put him in danger, which he did. He drew the boot on the ball when he saw McKiernan was diving for it, could have caught him in the head. Should have been a red.
tbf westside the same could be said for the two challenges on burns one of which resulted in stitches and concussion. it was obvious both times that he was being taken out.
as the guys say we all see what we want to see.
decent game, draw was a fair result and for me both sending offs were correct.
your number 11 could have seen red earlier for the smack on shields which was straight across from where i was sitting and was uncalled for as both guys weren`t at any shananigans.
