Just in from Stradbally   Great game of football serious credit to both sides for producing a game like that in December. Courtwood Emo marginally the better side and had better scoring forwards but port could have snuck it.   That Dunne chap at midfield from courtwood is a serious footballer best player on the field by far in my opinion

Dunne is a lovely footballer no doubt but my man of the match probably would have went to Alex Mohan at full-back for Portarlington. Had to mark Jack Owens and Alan Kinsella at different periods and seemed to come out on top of both.

Great game of football and I'd imagine a fair few on either side wi ll be putting their hands up for places on the Laois senior team.

Didn't know Gearoid Hanrahan was back in the mix. He was a player that impressed me a few years ago playing for Laois seniors but dropped completely off the radar after that.

The two Kingston brothers confirmed gone from Laois panel for upcoming season. I expected Donie to go but I was surprised that Paul isn't there either. For me, Donie gone from the panel means that Laois are in huge relegation trouble for the league. Not sure we have the scores up front to stay up. Evan O'Carroll will need to step up in a big way this season.

I see on the positive side that Niall Corbet and Garry Comerford are on the panel. Corbet could easily find himself starting as well because Laois desperately need a free taker. Comerford was a player who I was very impressed with when Stradbally won championship in 2016. I imagine he'll have no problems getting up to speed fitness wise due to his last few years playing soccer at a high level.

Huge loss for Portlaoise and Laois. One of the few top managers inside the county. Rhode won't be an easy job either, as they don't seem to be as strong as previous years and I'm not sure they have much coming through underage. Best of luck to Malachy all the same.

How is he a loss?  Only ever managed portlaoise and won as expected. Even niall rigney in his first football job was able to win with portlaoise so if he leaves  is he a loss to portlaoise and laois?

Malachy's teams were far more dominant in Laois than what Rigney did with Portlaoise this year, barely scraping over the line in a lot of games. Portlaoise were capable of genuinely challenging for Leinster's when he was over them as well.

i see Ronan McEvoy scored 2-8 in the u-20 yesterday, were Portlaoise holding him back for it from Saturday night or how come he did not feature to much with the seniors.

also is there many others of that u20 squad ready to step up to the senior squad for next year?

He's a seriously athletic player and I was sure he was set to start against Eire Og the last day. Should be given a look in for the Laois senior in my opinion.

Whelan and the two midfielders from last year, Tyrell and Dunne, seem to be the most likely to step up in my opinion. A lot of very talented players on that U-20 squad from last year who are underage again this year. Hopefully Kinsella and backroom team can bring them on further.

Portarlington and Courtwood-Emo in final, just like it was a couple of years ago at minor level. Disappointing few days for Portlaoise.

From what I've seen of U-20 football this year Courtwood-Emo will go in as favourites. Big panel of players and most of county standard for their age. Portarlington won't fear then though.

Portlaoise poor tonight. That Eire Og team are well drilled and have a few nice players. Portlaoise had no answer to them. Kieran Lillis best Portlaoise player once more despite sending off.

Fair play to Rosenallis. Decent chance of reaching a Leinster final now although the Kilkenny team will be no pushover. Senior champions in KK.

No KK football team have won a game outside their own county in more years than any can remember. Surely Rosenallis should walk this?
The Kilkenny lads bet the Dublin champs at the weekend and had a massive lead on them at one stage too .They were The same Dublin lads that bet Emo a couple of years ago in the Leinster intermediate. Won’t be easy at all . Plenty of decent footballers in Kilkenny only there is no interest .
Predicted this a few weeks ago . Mullinavat could win the thing out now . People in Laois have a fierce habit of overrating their teams .

Disappointed to see that result. I think John Lennon was carrying an injury and went off in the first half. Rosenallis also had a man sent off early in the game. If Lennon and Murray had stayed on the pitch it would've made a huge difference.

WOW typo alert
Has the other A semi final been played yet it was down for Wednesday but a lot of stuff was called off due to weather alert

It's down to be played the day after the Portlaoise Seniors play in Leinster. Can't imagine Portlaoise must be too happy with the arrangement.

I was at the B semi final last night. Not a bad game. Clonaslee won handy in the end but Na Fianna Og missed a few brilliant goal chances so it could have been a lot different.
Doesn't bode well for Crettyard, Barrowhouse and the two Arles teams that they only had 17 players between them and got beaten by a standalone intermediate club.
Not too many standout players to be honest. Centre forward for NFO was very good but had no help.

It will certainly be difficult for the two Arles clubs to survive much longer at Senior level anyway. Clonaslee on the other hand will probably go in as favourites to win the Intermediate next year.

I know it's always hard to get a picture at this time of year but any news of who's in and out?

We know Cha and Ben Conroy are out. The RE contingent will hopefully be missing until Xmas (or Paddy's day!!). Expect a few of last years U21s might have stepped up?

James Keyes, Eoin Gaughan, Liam Senior were the main ones who I was impressed with last year.

They might not be the Portlaoise of old but they are still very hard to beat. Eire Og of Carlow will probably be a step up next, but it should still be a right good game. I presume it"ll be in O'Moore Park?

any update on injuries? calliahan?

Don't think he's going to be available. This one is going to be very difficult for Portlaoise to get through. They haven't played in a while as well.
