Karl O Dwyer to Killeshin. Heading Pat Ryan to O’Dempseys and possible Mick Lillis and Ballylinan connection also.

Vacancy in the Heath also. Any story in Padraig Clancy back to Ballyroan Abbey? Surely there’s 1 big push with a bit of luck to be targeting getting near a county final.

I know the gaels situation is more or less gone but regarding amalgamation is there any truth to Colt and Shanahoe coming together at adult level? Would be a good long term move if that was the case.

You are correct Green and Gold. Bates could not get the minor job in his own club.

Bates was a part of an u14 Thomas Davis team that he stayed with until they got to minor 2016- 2018. This was his first venture into coaching.

Johnny Jackson was the manager and coach of that team. Bates, like he currently does with the Davis Senior team, was in charge of the water bottles.

Thomas Davis have more sense than let him near coaching a team.

Laois GAA on the other hand were stuck for mentors for Development squads and that’s how he got in with Laois in the first place.

This buffer has now by passed two very experienced and successful coaches in Noel Coss and Cillian  Fitzpatrick.

Mike Henhcy and Laurence Phelan have a lot to answer for.

The corrupt nature of this shambolic appointment will surly put Laois based coaches off working with Laois GAA going forward.

As I said previously i really feel that the players have been let down with this appointment.

It seems to be a right mess with this particular appointment, especially  if Killian Fitzpatrick went for job after his exploits with Ballyfin and years coaching in CBS Portlaoise would have more than enough experience. The minimum standards Bates should have for inter county should be GAA award Level 2 at the very least. If that isn’t the case then whoever appointed him should be shown the door.

I hope the 17s and any age group in the county at both codes has the best resources to meet their potential. We can’t afford for our best talent to be in the wrong hands. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised but have my reservations at the moment.

Killian Whelan very vocal on Twitter. Someone replied to him saying Sugrue had to buy the water for a challenge game

If I’m not mistaken was it said before that there was no team doctor for example appointed this year (anyone can confirm this) That’d be more concerning. Along with whatever list of demands he had while he was in charge that wasn’t fulfilled. Champagne dreams on a lemonade budget springs to mind and if he’s not getting the backing from County Board financially and with appropriate structures he’s right to walk. I also imagine the u20 job came up after leaving the Laois job rather than leaving to go manage Kerry u20s. You can hardly begrudge him managing his home county. Sure wasn’t he involved in 08 with the all Ireland winning team.

I can imagine money was tight across the board especially with the hurlers going well and trying to compete to some degree at both grades.

Camross left that semi final behind them but credit to Rathdowney Errill and some finish from Ross  King. Some justice after last year for him even though he said himself afterwards that he had a poor game.

PJ Scully on fire today and will be a tasty enough final in 2 weeks time.

Ole at the wheel and has driven the bus over a cliff. It’s a case of who do you get next if he gets the sack. Absolutely atrocious to look at!

Very surprised Noel McGrath not in category for hurler of the year. Take nothing away from the 3 nominated. I thought Horgan mightn’t have got nominated on basis of only getting to quarter finals.

In strong agreement with the last two posters re amalgamations and temporary arrangements. The minor championship going to be won by a mercenary style arrangement for the second year in a row.

On the junior, it's the least PRT should be doing really, but good to see them achieving success.
Is there a leinster championship? Cannot find any fixtures for one.

There was a Leinster Special Junior Championship competition a while back I assume it’s gone as Mountmellick weren’t entered last year. Park Ratheniska won it on their own the last time they were in it. Beat Parnells of Dublin. The leinster junior will be represented by Mountmellick as highest of the first teams in intermediate.

Those 90+ points ye were going to get are looking out of reach already.....

Who was drunk enough to say that in the first place?

Have to feel for Harps goalkeeper. Murphy’s law for him yesterday. Some good scores in it but overall a poor game.  I hope the Harps push on and win it next year. Some nice young lads coming through and their u17s are decent this year so they’ll add a few to it. Park Ratheniska/Timahoe will kick on and have 1 or 2 nice hurlers to come through next year which will add quality to the side.

Castletown on the up again. Give them few years and they will be competing again
Young team that’ll surely kick on in a few years. Portlaoise back down to senior B again. Horrible conditions in Colt. Abbeyleix got the goals at the right time. Just about deserved the win. Yo yo ing up and down frustrating to see where Portlaoise will go next.

Looks like he's taken up the role of Strength and conditioning  coach with the  Cork Senior footballers . Best of luck to him . Pity though . Like Don said he would have been a great addition to our backroom team .

Think he’s doing phd down there in CIT and prob be linked with Cian O’Neill as coach down there in college as well. He’ll get decent money from Cork as well as being on pittance money doing a phd. He’ll be busy. Best of luck to him!

Threat of rain in Japan.  If the Ireland/Scotland game is postponed, it will not be rescheduled.  Instead, it will be called a draw.

Should be in the WTF thread?
How else do you think they manage cancelled games at tournaments like this?

Was there not a rainstorm at the Euros a few years ago, they had to play a game the next day. Turkey are in my head for some reason.

It was actually England vs Poland Euro 2012
