Roddy isn't coming back in this year.

It would appear Mark Kavanagh isnt either?

Kavanagh named corner forward for tomorrow.
Great news!

In the end, Abbeyleix pride won out and I know a lot of club members didn't want to be party to taking hurling out of the town.
They are a club which should have no problems standing alone as a senior side. Their juvenile progress has stalled a little but they have still been one of the 2/3 strongest juvenile clubs over the last 5/6 years.
Important to acknowledge too, the role Ballyroan played in helping Abbeyleix turn it down.

Gaels gone got grades under senior, roll on the area teams. Great news.

Don't think football had anything to do with it. Abbeyleix had the giblets to back themselves against bigger amalgamations. As they say pride cometh before the fall, I hope it won't be for abbeyleix. They could be off designing names and jerseys but chose the road less travelled by with regard to most laois senior clubs. Tough year ahead for them. Fighting league and championship relagation is the price you pay for pride in the parish.
Good luck and God speed because you will need both
By god you almost had me weeping with pride for the beauty of the association there.

Until I remembered they tossed away football in the club without a second thought not so long ago.

I have no problem with the majority of that post but you talk about the ditch and then call a lad troublesome. Troublesome or not, he went in there and did a job, and I don't think he should be dragged through the mud again when he will obviously be disappointed. I'm a big supporter of what Sugrue is doing but that article was poorly written in my opinion, and contained information which had no relevance to the fact that he was dropped. Just my opinion.
The player in question did more damage to himself than that article ever could. Relax.

Fully agree with above. Strong was also dropped but Laois today have said he retired which was wrong. At least report the truth if gonna report anything
Laois GAA reported Darren as retiring, maybe wind your neck back in a little.

Peter Keane since apologised for that, and there has been guidelines set up by Kerry GAA for handling this process in the future.

What happened to him in the county final was a total disgrace. The way it was handled afterwards added insult to injury. I could easily imagine that this would leave him very disillusioned and no one could blame him for feeling that way.

Having said that, what happened in the county final and afterwards has nothing to do with the current management of the county team or with his teammates in the county. I’m sure the vast majority of them would have exactly the same opinion on the matter as Roddy himself.  I don’t believe that what happened in the county final should be forgotten but it is a different issue from his participation with the county team. Hopefully if he’s given a bit of time, he’ll agree to rejoin - I don’t think the county setup bears any relationship whatsoever to the carry on of a handful of clowns after the county final.
I'd imagine he just doesn't have the appetite for it, and you couldn't blame him.

Any more amalgamation talks now that the Gaels are effectively dead? Colt and Clonad tie the knot? Trumera and Mountrath?
Clonad? Are you on drugs?

Darren Strong has opted out of the panel it seems.
A decent servant, but not surprising. He did some good service, always committed.

Roddy isn't coming back in this year.
I wouldn't blame him.
How would you even have the stomach to pick up a hurl.
Didn't he play League of Ireland soccer for UCD? Wouldn't be impossible that he'd go off and get a few quid kicking for Limerick or Galway or that level.
I'd say that ship has sailed to a degree.

He'd be better off f**king off for a summer and just enjoying life.
