General discussion / Re: The Offical Glasgow Celtic thread
« on: April 20, 2019, 10:11:34 AM »
Dedryck Boyata (can't stand that man, after what he done last summer i'll never take to him so praying he doesn't sign a new contract. The worrying thing is the manager that was going to sign him is leaving his post so they may not want him now),
Catch yourself on with Boyate,
It's football realism that players want to move on to the epl or bigger.
Where do you think Scott Brown came from?  a green stork?
When he was at Hibs a big club had made a move to lure him away, Hibs did not want him to go. Brown put in a transfer request and demanded to be let go. Was that club not Celtic?
As my  mother use to say, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
What was good for Brown is equally good for Boyate.

Ricky Gervais 'Afterlife'. Like him or loathe him please give it a try. One the funniest / most depressing things Ive watched in a while.

Is it meant to be a comedy? I watched the first 2 episodes and didn’t laugh once. I loved the office so I do get gervais’ humour but unless it starts to get funny in the next few episodes I’m just not getting it.
It's not funny per se, it's humorous.
It's the type of humour at the expense of the arsehole narcissist  who's so self absorbed that he lacks any empathy.  He wonders out loud what he'll talk about when he'll meet up on a first date "oh I know, I'll talk about myself", the way he apologises for his father in the nursing home because the father embarrasses him.
It's the totally absurd scenario played out in the last two episodes  where he hasn't got a scooby doo about what he has just done, nor does he care, it barely registers, he's beyond the pale.

He was in the FAI already but not at the head of it. Either way it has long appeared to me that those that run the FAI are either incompetent or corrupted. Its not a serious organization and Ireland isn’t a serious footballing country despite the high levels of interest there is in the game as a form of entertainment and our national team will never amount to anything for the foreseeable future. Happy to be proven wrong of course but I doubt it.
Soccer has twice the playing numbers of Gaelic games. I'd hate to see playing numbers if they ever did get serious...
The  fraud speaketh, more nonsense. Only a fraud on the GAA discussion would come up with that bull. Those high soccer participation numbers come from a dubious sports whatever study, and  are inflated by people who play  7 a side, occasional once a week kickabouts in the park with jerseys for goalposts, lunchtime kickabouts.

When participation is defined by playing and being a  member of a club, the soccer figures dwindle and lag far behind the GAA. Baile your Hole, only a dimwit like yourself would think that selecting a gaelic name would fool people into thinking you're someone other than the worm you are.
Others might remember the fraud Myles na gCopaleen, at least he eventually gave up the pretense, well mostly stopped, but he could never shake off the lingering stain of being a duplicitous fraud.

After Life is curious, just how would a nasty narcissist troll, experience grief? exactly as you might imagine a self obsessed fat slob would, they’d make it all about themselves, all of the time.  By contrast there is in the background, a story of a real deep despair as experienced by homeless man called Tim.

The standard co commentator measurement of a marginal decision is "he was half a yard offside"

Its not a handball under the current law but under next seasons rule change it could be.
That's fair enough, Llorente's goal was legit and that type of contact might still might be legit next season.

The fact that it slightly brushed Llorente’s arm doesn’t make it handball. Completely different to the PSG and Rose incidents.

Anyone who thinks the Llorente goal shouldn’t have stood should go join Rio in the stupid corner.
I thought the ball came off the hip, goal was correct decision. Other pictures show the ball brushing Llorente’s arm, if so then Rio is  correct.

Liverpool 2/1 Barca 6/4, that’s an overwhelming difference tbf
I wouldn't take that 2/1 against Liverpool,  I'm sure better odds can be obtained.

There'a time warp here.

As always, Hardy is top suspect as the causal factor allowing a small black hole  in time for idiots to rear their ugly head.

A good game with a better ending  ;D

Ajax v Spurs should be an excellent semi final tie.

This year Monaghan are very content with having achieved NFL Div 1 survival. It gets tougher every year.
But I suppose like in previous years, we'll beat Cavan in a tight game, then have a  very decent chance in the semi final to make it to the final where we will surely reveal our essence, the essence of Monaghan football swank.
That's the Ulster Championship 2019 thread in a nutshell ... move on.
