The final has been fixed for Healy Park in Omagh on Sunday, December 1. What sort of shape is the pitch going to be in there ?
It's not that odd at all. And they would get relegated to Junior by being Relegated from Intermediate Championship.
Killenkere reached Intermediate final in 2016 but struggled in 2017 Championship and relegated to Junior
Look at the Inter County scene. There is 4 divisions In league, and in championip a Division 4 team could play a Division 1 team in a Provincial championship game
Yet people cry about disregarding the weaker counties
But that's why now Rodney, there's a clamour for a tiered system...or at least 2 tiers.
Of course... They complain that a tierd system is disregarding counties. A hammering in a Provincial and qualifier game isn't any benefit.
Leitrim and Wicklow proposed the idea. Some of the others objected. Thery could have a chance of playing the final at Croke Park. That wasn't going to happen through the qualifiers
As regards the club scene. Trillick in Tyrone I read were beaten in a Intermeduate final a few years ago but wee promoted in Division 2 and played Senior football the following year. That's just devaluing the Intermediate Championship
Must've been some amount of brown envelopes this week. Derrylaughan do anything for $$ and the Moy up to the old tricks again. Local stationary shops in the Moy must be buzzing at this time of year

Personally i would want noting to do with the shower that is Ulster rugby but i understand why he did, professional set up blah blah.. My issue is that it seems he was just let go. If Leinster rugby come looking a Dublin S&C coach I don't think they would get him at all and if they did they would not get him as easy.There is only short term security in professional sports in terms of managers and coaches. At some stage , the management team is sacked and new people take over.Thats why they get paid so well.
GAA is going the same way. New manager leads to new backroom members. You have to make your mark and charge accordingly. Even in club football the gravy train keeps moving on.
What would the career span be for coaches /s &c coaches ? 10 - 15 years ?
Donnelly's role was secure enough, he was a full time registered employee of Tyrone GAA with a remit covering all the S&C needs of Tyrone underage squads up to senior. He's very highly rated which probably explains why a professional setup came and headhunted him for their gig. I don't know how many other counties employ somebody like Donnelly, Dublin probably do and a few others but I think Tyrone were ahead of the curve. In terms of fitness, conditioning and our injury record record then I think the results speak extremely positively for Donnelly but the package on offer from a professional outlet is likely one we can't come close to offering.
Donnelly on full time contract with Tyrone. Not huge salary but probably decent in GAA circles. Ulster Rugby come calling, offer him a few grand more to do similar job, 9-5, working with academy set up, larger more professional organisation, more room for career progression. Donnelly suggests to Tyrone he could stay on and do S&C for senior team only on a part time evening basis (like vast majority of other counties outside the top tier), Tyrone say no, we want someone full time. All fair enough.
Donnelly then gets the opportunity to do the part time evening set up with Monaghan and make a few extra quid. All seems completely fair on both sides. Nothing to see here, move along.
If anything it shows Tyrone are up there with Dublin and Kerry in having the full time S&C coach and aren't content with a part timer they way Monaghan still are.
Why the general move away from the minor games being on before the senior games?
Any word on why Kennedy was taken off and Colm was put on? Is it a coincidence that that's when Derry started getting back into the game? Colm off after we concede the goal and we win the remainder of the game 1-5 to 0-01.
Good to get the win, was not expecting to blow them away but good sign that we put down the pedal for the last 10 minutes. Derry will cause a lot of problems for all teams outside of the top 3 or 4 I believe. Could get a decent run if the draw is kind to them in qualifiers.

Just looking at the table the Derrylaughan/Donaghmore game looks to be a big one already for D'More. They are struggling. Eglish and Tattyreagh will need to get something, somewhere soon. Will the Tatts smell blood at home to Omagh? Could be interesting.
No surprises at the top, pretty much as you expected - the demise of Clonoe has been predicted for a few years now....they are still there, one last hurrah for some? Moy look to have the house in order after a bit of a scare last year.
Couldn't agree more.....this issue needs to be taken firmly in hand by HQ.
Final is not scheduled until December so was no need to rush and finish the game on the day.Awful way to go out! I them games should go to replaysAwful way to win or lose a championship game. I'd blame those in congress for voting in such nonsense to decide games.
Can't have it every way, complain about fixture congestion and then complain about games being finished on the day.
