GAA Discussion / Re: Who is the most bitter after Dubs do 5 in a row
« on: September 18, 2019, 12:54:05 PM »
Supporters were kept interested this year to see if the Drive for 5 could be stopped. Now that it wasn't, don't be surprised to see attendances plummet in 2020.

What’s the IFC semi-final pairings again?

Some amount of frees not given to Dublin in the first half.

How bad is this Tyronegaa live commentary and who is Eugene that keeps getting asked what he thinks but he doesn't say anything.😂

Absolute and utter sh*te. The first half of the Errigal Eskra game was a joke how bad the quality of it was. Could hear f**k all from Paddy Hunter but the odd mumble, then a cough from his co-commentator (think Joe McMahon?) and the refs whistle and that was it. Did they not check if it was working before they started? Pity teamtalk hadn’t been doing it instead...

I watched Maghery v Dromintee on Armagh’s channel last week. Nothing could have been worse than the commentary on that. Then I thought “fcuk it, it’s just some boy giving it a rattle and you’re getting to watch a match you wouldn’t see otherwise.”

Wasn’t long ago we heard fcuk all from a game til somebody came home from it.

Exactly. Folk these days are pretty spoilt compared to back in the day!

Any word on the 2020 NFL fixtures? September 5th they came out last year.

Probably waiting for this inter county season to end first.

So everyone can agree that the Sky analysis is far superior to anything RTE produce right down to the screen Canavan uses etc.

With Brolly possibly gone can anyone tell me the reason to tune into RTE instead of Sky now?

RTE pre game/half time/post game analysis is still rubbish when Brolly isnt in the studio so they have a major problem there.

ORourke/Spillane/Whelan all offer zero insight.

If they are clearing Brolly they may go the whole hog as bar the controversy/craic Brolly created there is no other reason to tune in

There's none.

Next bunch of players that will be looked at will be the Tyrone U20s this year, likes of Conal Grimes, Canavan, Conor Quinn, Antoin Fox someone like Joe Oguz might even get a look

Darragh Canavan, Conor Quinn, Antoin Fox and Joe Oguz are all still U20 next year.

Mickey is in his last year my friend. If he wants them he will have them.

Do you honestly believe that.. The dictatorship will continue for at least another 3 or 4 I would imagine.

When Mickey goes, Mark will take over the reins.

Bar the odd bit of nonsense (Cooper didnt pull Clifford back) I definitely think he is worth having on the panel.

If RTE balls about they will lose him - there is no doubt he makes more people tune in that tune out.

Not a notion that's true at this stage, RTE have surely realised by now that people will watch their GAA coverage from sheer force of habit regardless of what the standard of it is.
Brolly getting the heave would do nothing but vastly improve their live match coverage and analysis.

Totally agree. At least the others can say what they want without him cutting in and talking over them.

If I spot Brolly on TSG, it’s “ah for f**ks sake”, and I usually mute it all. Yes, there’s other analysts who have their faults, but none of them make me turn off completely.

Yeah I wouldn't listen to it. I did on the all ireland final and it was ridiculous. Doesn't know what a foul is and questions the referee's integrity on the back of it. That after questioning Cavanagh years ago and I'm sure he's done more with the likes of McGeeney and maybe more. If he's gone good riddance but I'd be surprised if this is the last of him even if what is said here is true.

Well, I watched the AI final analysis only because it was the biggest game of the year. He ruined the whole experience, as the occasion was a wonderful spectre of Irish sport and culture, plus it was a great game. But he tainted the day for many I’d say.

But as you say, I doubt this is the last of him. I think RTE are just taking the heat out of the situation following his behaviour in the drawn match. Like Ant (Dec’s mate), he’ll be back next season when all has settled down, unfortunately.

He's gone from RTE for good apparently.

Looks like OWC are up against it now. Even a home win against the Dutch and a draw away to Germany probably wouldn't even be enough as the Dutch and Germans have easier games to play v Estonia and Belarus. They'd need to take 4 points off the Dutch which is extremely unlikely considering they are one of the in form teams in Europe at the moment.

Errigal, Carrickmore, Trillick and Coalisland to win 1/4 finals.
Trillick to lift the O’Neill Cup.

this will never happen

Ricey wasn't going for his head but only his neck to kind of "choke" him. Nobody can really comment on Armagh thuggish behaviour as they tend to only play 2 or 3 championship games, and typically play in divison 3 which doesn't tend to be covered on TV or really matter at all.

So in the spirit of football to cut off the oxygen supply to an opposing player with one's knees is acceptable?  Maybe trampish incidents like this 15 years  ago continuing up to and including McCann trying to pull the teeth out of an opponent without any condemnation from Saint Mickey have opened refs eyes to the dark arts they are taught, as I say you reap what you sow - enjoy your 2020 McKenna Cup win, you will win nothing else.

more than armagh will   ;)

your just another bitter armagh man with a chip on his shoulder about Tyrone. who'd have thought it eh?.

Sevco apparantly agreeing a 7mill deal for Kent.

Good signing for them but where in fcuk is all the money coming from?

Europa League money?

£7m for Kent is crazy stuff. They must be panicking big time after yesterday.
