GAA Discussion / Re: Down v Armagh (Park Esler 16:00) 19/05/2019

They said on BBC that Clarke doesn't play club football?

Think he opted out of playing for Cross this year.

Correct. Baffling that a man can play for his county yet refuses to play for his club.

Has anyone ever done an ultramarathon? I turn forty in August 2020 and I’ve a mad notion of doing one to celebrate.

Are you talking about the 50k or 100k distance? An old mate of mine did an ultra 100k in Scotland, think it’s a famous one, he was a runner, ran for years, every day nearly, and built like a runner too. He said it was pain!! And the target is to finish.

There  is a group who run once or twice a month where I live, who start running at 8.30 on a Saturday and some do a marathon and others double up on that! EAS I think they are called, there are runners from all over Ireland running there, I’d imagine they’d be a group to get in touch with

There is one in Tollymore which is 40 miles. I fancy that one if it goes ahead next year as well

There's one at the Causeway Coast as well I think that runs along the sea front

Tommy's accent hasn't been totally D4 rinsed.
He looks fit enough, I wonder could he do a job in midfield for Monaghan?

Wasn't he a midfielder for the minors at 16 before he fully committed to the rugby? He'd be a good addition even now considering our midfield options for the weekend.

Sure he could line out for Emyvale again and give it a lash and see how he goes!!!

I don't understand this argument that "it's not about Sean Cox so it's ok."
Let's assume for a minute there is no correlation. Why is it ok for city PLAYERS (not fans, mind you) to sing such an offensive song regardless? Imagine it were Liverpool players singing something similar about another club. Just imagine.

I’ll tell you how bad it is. Stew is defending Liverpool on Facebook and he hates the club!!!  I am having a discussion with a City fan and he is fully defending them. Says it all really.

Anyone that thinks that song is disrespecting Sean Cox needs their heads read, a bunch of young lads high on adrenaline after winning the league celebrating a bit too boisterously. City will now release a pointless statement deflecting blame.

The social media age of outrage  ::)

Exactly. “Professional footballers not the brightest” shock. Not the best choice of song  but trying to link it to Sean Cox is ridiculous. The bollox that recorded it though should have his phone shoved up his arse sideways. (Along with every other fuckwit who feels the need to record and share every f**king moment on social media)

No harm lads but professional footballers singing a song about fans of another club being battered in the street and celebrating one of their team mates injuring another fellow professional, along with a veiled reference to Hlsborough, is not on. It may not have been about Seán Cox but it’s still disrespectful and should be called out. This is not a group of drunken fans and to be honest if I heard that about a team I played on I know what would I would be thinking. In fact I recall an incident where a team did taunt the team I played on and it was used as a motivator which contributed significantly to our success. They are a Shower of classless cocks and are rightly being criticised.

It was an unreal play but on some respects it was a free go. Game was not lost as it was going to overtime so it was a good percentage shot. Execution was great though and as has been said the high arc to get it in was essential. The reality is that given the closeness of many of these teams at this level this type of ‘clutch’ play is regular. Small margins and Leonard has been outstanding all the way this season.

Didn't know whether to put this here or the WTF thread

Disgraceful if true as reported.

Seems to be true but like everything else stuff like this can be changed. I would like to think if City had anything on them they would make a very quick statement on this either way

Just wondering if there is any Celtic fan outside of Lurgan (and even inside of it) that still thinks Lennon should be given the job......

If it was between the Armagh ginger and Moyes I'd have to say yes

Why would you give the job to someone who got binned by hibs over someone who in his last job took a west ham side headed for relegation and kept them up, or who got an Everton side playing great football to a champions league place? suppose the usual 'look at his utd team' argument, but he was never going to succeed there, he was always being used as a buffer between SAF and the next 'big' manager. hes 100 times the manager lennon is

The Moyes-iah is the Chosen One!

What did Rio do in 08?

High foot/ head high tackle on Joe Cole. There was no replay of it on the night but there was a few angles of it on social media after it. YouTube maybe.

I actually noticed it live.

Booting a lazy fat cnut like Joe Cole should be commended rather than penalised!  ;)

Smokey Joe!  I feel a bit dirty here as I actually agree with Over the Bar....
