The outcome of discussions on reserve competitions from last nights meeting is very disappointing. For years now reserve football has been on its knees. My club discussed this at length and whilst we could see some flaws in decoupling the games we felt it had to be worth a shot in order to try to breathe some new life into the reserve competitions. I am astounded this was defeated by a vote and would love to see a club breakdown. I can see no sense in not trying this approach for at least 1 year. Yes it would take some fine tuning and imagination from clubs with regards to training/picking squads on a weekly basis, but surely it was better than the status quo.

There was no vote but from the discussions last night the following Clubs were very vocally against it - Carrickmore, Tattyreagh, Loughmacrory, Clann na nGael, Glenelly, Trillick, Stewartstown, Castlederg etc.

I was hoping the changes would go through but as you can see both small and large Clubs were against it. 70% of the responses received by the CCC from Clubs were against change to the Reserve competition.

Outrageous decision last night regarding reserve football. As stated already, clubs had to look at this as a positive for Tyrone football not their club, unfortunately too many clubs can't/aren't prepared to do this. From a quick search of last years conceded reserves matches a few of the clubs listed above featured heavily, the others, although may not have conceded, were still affected by opposition conceding. The mind boggles as to how these teams think next season will play out. Dinosaurs!! What harm could it have done to try this for a year??

Ok so we've heard some smaller clubs didn't want the change because they are working with small numbers. What was the reason Carrickmore, Trillick and other bigger clubs voted against it?

;) ;) lol you got me there

In all honesty, what is the chances of Stevie Ferguson and Mchugh taking moortown to senior football. In tattyreagh he had James Darcy, Eoghan Murray and the Harkins, in moortown he has a pile of overrated youth players
With the McLernons fit and Mark Devlin off the U17s last year Moortown could well push promotion very close this year. These players added alongside Peter Devlin and the likes they have a very good team.
Other than Edendork no other teams in Intermediate would worry them.
Forgot about the young u20 Tarlach Quinn, was up watching the htc macrory game on Saturday, bagged a massive goal for them and never stopped running. One for the future of Tyrone as well

So................. in your 1st comment you slated Moortown and then very quickly your praising 1 of their "overrated youth players"

Did you forget to change your sign in or just on the wind up initially

Changes narratives daily. Wrecking the board.

such a backwards county in terms of the proposal not going through last night. Some clubs will severely struggle now. What is the point in Moy reserves being in div 1? they barely fielded a game last season and are expected to hold their own in div 1 this year again, and Greencastle reserves in div 2 are capable of fielding and would be a lot more competitive in div 1. Likewise for derrytresk, being expected to be competitive at intermediate. IMO it was worth a trial for a year.

Where has the Harte agenda gone now. Funny how things change when silverware is won.

Assumed incorrectly

Silverware? He won a pre season tournament friend.. not Sam.. Also beat a team who had atleast 6 of their best players on the bench

Tyrone had 3 of there best players not even on the squad.
Plus you can only beat whats in front of you fella. Lets call a spade a spade, silverware is silverware at the end of the day.

Decoupling Reserve football from Seniors is the best solution. Some teams just don't have the depth to compete in Div 1 Senior and Reserve.

Thats as wrong as the day is long there chap

if the reserves are on the friday/saturday and not the monday, there's a good chance of being successful

If by successful you mean unsuccessful, then yes, you are correct.

You can avail of Eir sports package if you have eir broadband package via their app.  I do not have sky, Virgin or Eir TV package but I can avail of the Eir sports app for free once my broadband is with eir.  I can then chromecast eir sports from my phone to the TV.  It also includes virgin media sports pack now. (this use to be BT Sports)

hes a man of the people our Joe, thinking of the bigger picture.

Anyone giving out about these changes need their heads looked at. Reserve football is a joke. Loads of teams not fielding. Something needs done.
Will this be the answer I don't know but things have to change.
No need to change things so drastically, i am strongly against dividing the reserve teams up and making them play the same team twice in the league. If followed through and them changes were made we would see the end of reserve football after a few seasons.

Eventually they wouldn't be playing the same teams. After a couple of seasons of promotion/relegation a Club's Senior and Reserve teams will probably be playing different teams so it makes sense to play the games on a different day.

Players have been asking for years for the competitions to be split.

yous are so incredibility incorrect.
Nothing needs changed in reserve football. The calendar is the only thing which needs fixed. Making you play the same team twice via splitting up the east and the west isnt going to fix the calendar. Also isnt u14's.

Fair play to Joe, he gave RTE the boot. Corporate greed was the straw that broke the camels back with RTE and Joe among a few other reasons. Now hes elsewhere voicing his analysis on the game. The jealously is outrageous. Sour, sour posters on here today.

Strange Killyclogher hasn't been filled yet, they are a really good team full of potential.

Its a give the ball to mark bradley, let him do the rest. far too reliant. Cant see them getting far the year

How many times did you see killyclogher play last year to come up with this conclusion.
I seen them enough, most over rated team in the league by a mile.

over rated? they are slated on here constantly

for being overrated. Tattyreagh even took a point from them.
