Any word on who Darren Gleeson is bringing in as part of his management team?

Ref was good in my opinion. Terrific game with Lamh Dheargís mini-comebacks each time they conceded a goal a joy to watch. Enthralling contest that could easily have gone to penalties. Well done to Cargin.

For what itís worth - and this would be a viewpoint of many in my own club - MR2 is one of the top guys with the whistle in Antrim in both codes. Communicates well with the players and is very fair.

Those claiming that McKenna is a tit, an idiot, a ball bag and a clown are only doing so because they disagree with him. Which is fine. However McKenna is an excellent journalist and whilst I donít always agree with him, he never takes the populist approach and is willing to ask the hard questions that a proper journalist should. Some people mightnít always like this as it is human nature to want to join in with the team that is winning but the likes of McKenna and Kimmage are rarely ever too far off the mark either.

Rather than attack McKenna with personal insults it would be better if the points he raised were dissected and debunked where relevant. Itís easy to join in with the mob and particularly in the aftermath of a victory like last nights but it doesnít make some of the points that he made in last weeks article any less relevant.

Fair enough, that was one of his points and one I would disagree with him on. But itís not enough for me to think he is an idiot either.

He did make some other good points about player welfare, player nationality and the medicalisation of the sport that media and former players ever rarely get asked about.

For players nationally, is he consistent across all sports?

I honestly donít know but few other other sports define nationality so loosely. Cricket possibly.

Personally I donít think Aki, Stander or Van der Flier should be playing in a green jersey. They arenít Irish and have no bloodline connection with the country. Other than being bought by a provincial side to make a living here, they would be lining out for their own countries.

However those are the rules even if I strongly disagree with them.
Are you Jamie Bryson?

Van Der Flier born and raised in Dublin I believe.....?

'Donegal? Why in caps?'

Why not?

Why emphasise where the ref is from?

Would be more inclined to emphasise that he is in actual fact a football ref primarily.

Wasn't at the game but I have to say there is a terrible tendency with hurling referees throughout Ulster to blow for every little contact.

We had a visiting club up from Cork during the Summer and they commented on that a number of times during the games played

But sure some refs is our own county are football refs and end up being very good hurling ref and vice versa.

Imagine the uproar if the Dall would of lost.

I don't care if the referee is from Donegal or if he referees football as well, it would be nice if he could answer how off the ball a player hits another in the balls, the linesman sees it, calls in the referee and tells him what happened and the referee gives a yellow card. Surely it's a red all day long?

The ref in question is living in Donegal but is from Kilkenny originally I believe.

If youíre from a Belfast club Farset then they will have brought a manager in, I canít think of one which hasnít
This year fairly sure LD, St Pauls, St Teresas, St Galls, Rossa and St Johns aren't paying their senior football managers

I'm sure all have in the past though, and thats my point

St. Johnís have never paid a manager in any code.

Aha my mistake.

Whoever 11 was seemed to disappear 2nd half. (If he he was taken off I didn't notice!)

Did he not score the goal, he doubled on it in mid air from the hand pass across? Maybe I am wrong.

To be fair St Johns style leaves them very light up front and any one playing along the half forward line for them rarely spends much time in the attacking half.

Number 11 McCallin set up the first goal and scored the second goal, along with winning frees throughout, impressive from where I was standing

Don't forget the old pitch in Davitt Park was 154m long, which was 9m longer than the maximum and caught a lot of teams out over the years. Kicking the ball into the full forward line from midfield didn't always get there, of course the scary people of Lurgan was a big factor too and their wives giving out at the it any wonder teams couldn't get outta there quick enough.

What are the dimensions of the new pitch at Davitt Park?
