GAA Discussion / Re: St Brigids can do it.
March 18, 2011, 05:19:27 AM
time of this post will give a clue, i'm just in from paddy burkes in clarinbridge after a great night of celebration. Its such a pity that we did'nt have a connacht double today, brigid's could well have brought home the bacon as well, but a bit more finesse was needed in the final qtr. i'm a mayo man living in the bridge for the past 12 yrs, and got a great kick walking out of croker after an aif having passionately followed the winning team, for a welcome change! i really enjoyed the two games, beforehand i feared that the football would look like a poor relation after the wonderfull hurling exhibition by the bridge in the second half, but i need not have worried, the standard of skill and entertainment in the football match was top class for club level.

the defining passages of play were seen when the match was in the melting pot with 10 mins to go, oisin swung over a majestic free from an angle 40 mtrs out and shortly afterwards francie missed narrowly  from 30mtrs with the wind behind. these clinical inches made the difference of a two point swing late in the game. brigids were game, skilfull and gave their all but, this proved to be the defining moment in my view. hard luck to brigids, the were so very close, and might see this as the one that got away, but as a connacht man i was delighted to support the rossies in the green and red (however odd that might seem!!), a great day of entertainment at hq. up the west and f"""k the rest!!!!!

As a father of 2 daughters, I can't even attempt to imagine how utterly devastating this must be. Sincerest condolences to all of the Harte family and to the groom and his family. I'm sure the good people of Tyrone and Down will support the bereaved at this most awful of times, it just seems so wrong and so unfair that something like this could happen.

GAA Discussion / Re: 2010 All Stars
October 13, 2010, 11:59:57 PM
Of the 4 provincial winners, there are only 2 awards, none for Ros or Meath, 1 each for Kerry and Tyrone. You'd imagine that Joe sheridan would be a shoe-in for his dramatic and technically brilliant execution in the Leinster final !!!!! Joking aside it's great to see that the 'real' leinster champs have an all-star, scant consolation but there is an element of poetic justice for the Louth gaels. Something for the Royals to ponder on though, deservedly nada for them only a tarnished leinster medal. Shine should have got one for Ros!

topo d rite, take no notice, rosnarun isn't exactly without form where totally misconstruing reality's concerned  ;)
Ta for that FOSB, I'm new to this site and didn't want to get off to a bad start by offending people. I was taken aback when ros was screaming for 'MODS MODS' when he read the post. I'm glad that most readers of the post were able to detect the use of irony. Here's some more...., I also apologise to anyone from Ethiopia who might have been offended by being compared with Brian Dooher!  ;)

Ogungbe from Nobber!!! Jeez isn't Nobber a fierce strange name!!!! ;)

Looking forward to the gene pool of the GAA being enriched with all races and creeds, can only be a good thing!! Think about it, a russian gymnast in goal, a couple of maoris in the spine of the the team, 2 tall poles in midfield, an Ethiopian in the Dooher role, and a Kerry forward line!!!! Oops, we'll just have to find a way to get the Kery folk to scatter the seed around a bit more!!
what a racist post MODS MODS

I can't find anything remotely racist about it. Its a fact of life that certain nationalities are well known for their abilities in various areas of sport.
+1. Cornafean, are you from Cornafean?

Absolutely no racist intent, but aoplogies to anyone from Nobber who might be offended  ???
