I used to go see Celtic play at least 6 times a season for many years, and the last time i saw them was in the wembley cup in the summer, they outplayed spurs all over the pitch in the last match and played some excellent passing footbal, since then in my opinion everythings went on a downward spiral.

I love the club but since Martin O'Neill left we've been subjected to a cost cutting exercise. Gordon Strachan's footballing philosophy was poor, get a goal and defend. You cant argue with his achievements though regardless of how he got them. Celtic's style has always been to play attacking football and entertain, which in the end meant Strachan had to go, everyone grew sick of watching crap football.

Ok cue Mowbray, now he's a man who plays attacking football the board thought, Owen Coyle doesnt want the job, we'll get him. A former Celtic player, keep the fans happy.

Since those two sunny days in wembley, everything else has been absolute pish! He can talk all day about things improving getting goals etc, but the simple thing is they arent coming.

The board have two choices, throw some money behind him and let him buy players who will better the team. Or sack him! Until the end of the year im willing to give him a chance.

Celtic are 37% owned by a billionaire, what on earth is stopping them from buying decent players? Mowbray's hands are partially tied by the limited resources the board are giving him. When we are competing with the likes of wolves, stoke, wigan, bolton etc for players that in itself should be evidence that the club is on a downward spiral.

Until the team starts performing, Mowbray gets to spend some money and buy a decent striker, I wont be wasting a basic £200 for a weekend to watch Celtic draw with the likes of Falkirk.

Im sure theres many more frustrated fans like me!

Bring back Strachan !

are u serious? His role was to bring down the wage bill, that's why Celtic owe 3.5 mil to the bank and rangers owe 30 mil, from the boards perspective mission accomplished, from the fans, grey feckin hairs! I'm a lifelong hoops fan and am at the end of my theather

Just watching this now and the language and accent isn't far off West Donegal. These people are from the Isle of Skye and all "prods".
Just wondering should we offer them the option of coming back into the mother land.

Aye, Erse would be a straight Goedelic derivative of An Gaeilge. (or Gàidhlig as they call it). Be careful though, they might offer you the compulsory 'option' of unifying with them in a new-age type Dalriada!  ;)

what would the grant be called?  red hand o donnells speeaakkk?

Fear, it might not be bad as long as they convert!  ;) :D

unbelievable show last night, pity it was on so late. its also a pity that these men arent recognized more for their achievements.

Liam Clancy spoke with a genuineness rarely shown by stars, loved what he had to say about the similarities between the blacks struggle in America, how it compared to what the Irish had fought off fifty years earlier, and here was the irish americans giving them grief for supporting them.

I dont want to go off on a tangent here but i was up in the north two weeks ago.

I was heading up to a friend from between banbridge and castlewellan or newcastle i think.
The route i took was armagh city, pontyzpass, loughlowbridge i think, banbridge and then the castlewellan road and i turned off somewhere on that road.

I noticed that every so often there was a UJ or Northern flag flying from different telephone poles and the markethill road there was a fair few splattered.

Then when i went down to my friend who lives on an oul country road i noticed a big farmyard beside his house and a lot of good land to the back and a big white pole with a UJ flying.

This wasnt the first big farm i noticed with a UJ flying outside on a long pole.

My friend is nationalist but is not political. He doesnt care as long as theres peace which is my oulook too.The easy option maybe but it actually irked me that every morning when my friend and his neighbours wakes up they sees this flying and even though they dont seem to care i have to say it would bother me.

Im maybe naive as my trips to the north has only been to crossmaglen and enniskillen a couple times to watch roscommon and yes even though there was a nice few tricolours in cross i never seemed to notice anything else.

On the trip two weeks ago i genuinely seen only one tricolour in the north and alot of bunting and flags for peares og in armagh city.

On the way home i decided going through the republic i would look for tricolours and see were we as genorous with the flag flying.

I went through monaghan cavan and leitrim and down to south roscommon.
I seen two. One outside the slieve russel hotel in cavan and one outside the mbna building in carrick on shannon.

My point is this are the UJs been flown for triumphalism or insecurity?

Was it just the route i took that was unionism favoured or is there other areas in the north where the tricolour is flown every half mile along a road?

that particular road that you took, was a haven for the blue brigade in this county, Armagh City was covered in the harps and og's colours and still is.

the unionists use the UJ etc like a dog use's its urine, to mark their place! We as nationalists / republicans however dont feel the same need to let people know we are there, hence the lack of tricolours on your visit.

So in answer to your question, its a mix of insecurity, triumphalism, ignorance & bigotry
