If fit Paul Murphy should have been thrown in.  A tank who takes no prisoners who should have been sent to talk to that McKeever mouth piece

P.S All of the Down team need to have a look at themselves tonight.  Very few of them can say they performed.  The season isn't over but management and players need to get things sorted.

McCartan's deluded loyalty to his 'adopted' club Burren cost us the game tonight.  The Anton McCardle  substitution took the complete piss.  I'm sure his intro must have deflated the other 14 players on the field.  5 points down and time running out and who do we bring on? Anton McCardle not even a decent Burren player.  6 Burren players played.
I'd have left Benny Coulter on, on one leg before I've have brought any of the other forward subs on.  Jerome and James need to ditch their club and family loyalties if Down are to have any sort of a half decent summer.

Lads I got the reply below from an accountant friend.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are no exemptions between family - the only way around it is gift relief.

Say your parents give you a site (free) they would be deemed to have received mrket value and would be liable to pay Capital Gains tax on that site

They can however elect to roll over the gain to yourself and when you would go to sell the site you would have a double tax charge in effect - but only when you sell it!

If the site & house however becomes your PPR (Main private residence) then it is exempt from any Capital Gains Tax if you go on to live in it.

So really if you build on the site and live in it and its your PPR you will have no tax to pay and neither will you father but if you build a house and sell it without living in it you will have to pay your gain and the gain rolled over from your father

I made it 10 points. 1.16 to 0.9.  Ref was brutal, the game could have boiled over a couple of times.  Laim Ward sent off for throwing a punch.

Oh shit!

The land was transferred in Feb/March 08 with planning permission already in place.  They have owned the land for 15/20 years but had set (rented it) to a local farmer.

Cheers for the info lads.

Smokin - Could you explain "The gain is taxable at the parent's marginal tax rate (ie it will be added to their income (after allowing for £9,200 annual CGT allowance) and taxed accordingly)."  In lay mans terms.  I.e. if the site is valued around 150k what sort of money will it cost.

I dug out the invoice from the solicitor who handled the transfer and stamp duty is included in it.  £480 to tranfer the land into my name, including land taxes and stamp duty.

Cheers Pint.  What do you mean when you say forget about it??

My parents owned a bit of land and gave me a site on it.  I went to a solicitor and good the deeds transfered into my name.  In the pub one night someone mentioned that if its not transfered in a certain way the revenue wiill bite for 40% of the value of the site.

Now that the deeds have been tranfered is there anyway I can avoid paying revenue a substantial amount of cash?  Is it too late?  If I say nothing will they notice?  Is there a period after which they can't touch us?

Download spybot search and destroy for www.spybot.com.  Make sure run the spybot update before you can the PC.

Run your virus scanner, again make sure its up to date.  If you don't have a virus scanner, download Avast Home edition (Free) or AVG Anti Virus.  I prefer Avast myself.

Run Windows Update to download any security patches from Microsoft.

Second guessing the current managements team is next to impossible.  I don't think Colgan will get a starting place, I'd agree with most people that McComiskey probably won't start either.  McVeigh and Cole supposedly both dropped balls into their own net against Cork gifting them 6 points.  I've heard this from an over the fence watcher!  ;D  Maybe the concentration levels weren't as high as they should have been given it was a challenge game.  Paul Murphy has to start, he has really filled out and is as strong as a horse and has that agressive streak that Down really need.  If Aidan Carr isn't in the half back line he won't be playing.
