Great win for Monaghan. It makes a mockery of Jamsie Donnelly's comments in Gaelic Life that Donegal are not that far off Derry. Catch yourself on man! Outside Burt and maybe Setanta all the other Donegal clubs would be hammered heavily in Derry.

The Lidl slothars were good. The hurls were touch and go, the gloves were good and the helmets were crap.
As for Torpey - a friend of mines bought one down around Munster and it was a lovely stick, but the ones in the shops up here in Derry and Donegal are only good for lighting the fire. No life at all in them!

Result from Division 4A
Na Magha (Derry city) 3 - 12
Strabane Shamrocks   1 - 5

Played in a gale and hail showers. Some decent hurling from both despite this.

Everyone knows a certain Mr Mc **** and County Board do not care about hurling. Its up to the hurling clubs to fight their own corner in Derry because nobody else is going to fight it for them

GAA Discussion / Re: Mc Gilligan spills his guts!

I was only jokin with the genes and breeding comment, but no Antrim men took the bait, raging! I love a good wind up. But seriously Derry have a great wealth of hurlers, but unless the co board find some way of helping and adequately accomodating them the game will continue in freefall. I would envisage  weaker clubs like Na Magha getting stronger as they seem to be getting organised and have a lot of true hurling men involved, they are hurling only and are relatively young. The stronger clubs also have loads of real hurling people but they are being smothered by the football wings of their clubs.

Mc Gilligan needs support. The reality is that Derry with only 9 clubs can run Antrim close if the county board support them because of better breeding and genes.

Ba mhaith liom a rá gur iontach an rud go bhfuil an snáth seo ar fáil. An bhfaca duine ar bith an t-agallamh le Mc Gilligan san Irish News inniu?
