On RTE radio on way home, Des Cahill insisted that Monaghan are already relegated!!

Relegation is based on head to head if points are equal. BAsically if armagh lose to cork and galway beat dublin then armagh go down with monaghan who cannot stay up due to armagh beating them.
Very disappointed with armaghs performance this afternoon. GAlways halfbacks of o'donnell and sice absolutely murdered us. Sice cleaned out nippy, duffy and vernon. Vernon was particularly poor especially at tracking back.
O'Donnell and clarke showed glimpses of class but we kicked an awful lot of wides. take into context that they were missing meehan and armstrong - armagh are in diffs come down in championship. Heart alone wont win that one!!

It maybe so that the hurling club is seperate from the football club but there are a lot of dual players. As for middletown getting their games played, they are not just as successful as Keady at the hurling!!! Therefore Keady have more hurling games to play.
But it does need to be sorted out that Keady get more games played during the early part of season. Although Co Board have some blame to take as there were weekends when neither Keady footballers or hurlers had a game due to the fixtures set by the county board.

MacRory cup underway once again.
No luck to Lurgan!!!

BT MacRory Cup : St Macartan's Monaghan 2-12 St Michael's Lurgan 2-11.

So near, yet so far for debutants St Michael's Lurgan in the BT MacRory Cup yesterday.

A goal from Feargal Moore 5 minutes from time put them 2-11 to 1-11 ahead. But Ryan McGuigan pointed a free and, as injury time beckoned, floated a 45 into the Lurgan goal area from where sub Keelin Clerkin punched a goal for a single point victory, 2-12 to 2-11.

This was an excellent opening game for the competition, Conleth McAlinden shooting a first half goal to put Lurgan in at the break 1-5 to 0-7 ahead.

Shane Carey's goal edged Monaghan ahead early in the second half, but 4 points from Conor Lavery tied the game before the late drama left Lurgan wondering what might have been.

Monaghan will face St Patrick's Cavan in the middle of next week, while Lurgan will try their luck against Omagh CBS before the Halloween break.

Meanwhile there was a shock in the BT Casement Cup hurling quarter-finals when St Patrick's Academy produced a superb second half to knock out holders St Patrick's Armagh 0-20 to 3-9.

Last season's beaten finalists St Killian's Garron Tower though were comfortable winners over St Colman's Newry.

St Macartan's : Shane Carey 1-0, Keelin Clerkin 1-0, Ryan McGuigan 0-5, Sean McKenna 0-3, Christopher McKenna 0-2, Liam Hahassey 0-1, Fergal McGeough 0-1.

St Michael's Lurgan : Conleth McAlinden 1-0, Fergal Moore 1-0, Conor Lavery 0-5, Ciaran Conway 0-2, Niall Patterson 0-2, Andrew Nugent 0-1, Gavin McCormick 0-1.

judging by what i watched on sat afternoon, i would be looking for Dromintee in the Semis. Granted they were missing barry shannon and kevin dyas but if ballymacnab had a decent midfield they would have beaten dromintee. Dromintee were dominant in this area for large parts of the game and very econimical with their scores but ballymacnab should have had them buried. Granemore would be more than fit for both cullyhanna (proven last year) and dromintee. I havent seen maghery this year so cant comment on them and Cross are Cross but again are more vunerable than in previous years but i still cant see them losing this years championship. If the draw works out i predict a granemore v cross final.

Dromintee ran out winners by 7 at end. Much stronger team around middle of field. Referee played a big part in allowing 2nd dromintee goal when no 10 clearly overcarried by about 10 steps. Overall though dromintee deserved win but not by 7points

just been looking at the "MyArmagh" document and i am impressed with the proposals for the new centre of excellence. Has anyone any idea where it is to be located?

Captain of the first underdogs team was Paddy Kelly. I think he originally played with Emyvale but then transferred to Monaghan Harps after a falling out. I do believe he exacted retribution on emyvale!!! He is now managing Derrynoose in Division 4 of Armagh.

Martin Murphy and Brendan Rafferty (from 2nd series) both were playing club football with Granemore up to last year and Martin is manager of Derrynoose ladies team.
