I'm from the Moortown-Ballinderry-Arboe area, and its remarkable the difference in the club action in Derry compared to us involving the county players. The Derrys ones hardly miss a game, whilst our boys never play a club game in the summer

Tyrone's system is far from ideal and a better compromise needs to be worked out but I really don't think we need to look at Derry for the answer :D    They are a joke.

They could argue Tyrone clubs are a joke as they have won a few All Irelands titles
and Ulsters down the years. Depends on which you see as priority. Success here is totally measured in Sam Maguires but would be good to see a club give the All Ireland senior title a lash.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure seeing the likes of Carrickmore, Dromore or Errigal make a serious push for an All-Ireland Club title. After the Junior and Intermediate title, it's long overdue for a Senior one.

As an Errigal man I would take 1 All-Ireland club over 100 Sams but there is no reason why both can't be done. Just need a bit more compromise between club and county. One of the hardest things about Errigal winning 2 Ulster titles was getting out of Tyrone. We beat Derry Champions both in 93(Lavey) and 02 (Ballinderry) so I think no Derry team would consider us a joke.

Just a quick point, the vibes that I get is that none of the Derry clubs who would see themselves as potential county champs would worry in the slightest about playing a Tyrone club.

Don't know where you get that from. Having watched a lot of Tyrone club football, I know trhat Dromore, Ardboe, Clonoe, Coalisland, Carrickmore, Omagh would all be capable of beating Ballinderry. The rest of the Derry clubs can speak for themselves.

By the way, which of three areas are you from? You cant be from Ballinderry, Moortown, Ardboe, they are all distinct places. Thats like saying you are from Bellaghy/Lavey/ Greenlough

You are abslolutely correct regarding these ridiculous fines of clubs which are only used to boost the county board coffers. If you think this fine was bad, what about Ballinderry's fine after the county final of 2008.
£3,000 for; two supporters using players passes for entrance to stasdium, having an extra official along the sideline and having 25 names on the teamsheet instead 24 which was pointed out was a mistake on their part as No. 24 was stroked out and an extra name added.

I know someone will point out about the assistant manager "scooting" water from his mouth on an opponent but that was dealt with separately with a 48 week suspension.

PS. There wasn't one player who picked up a yellow or red card in the course of the game.

Hard luck to Ardboe. That was the cruellist way i have ever seen any team lose a county final. Little consoilation I know but your team were a credit to you and with talent like that, it wont be long until the the championship is resting in Ardboe again.
Well done to Dromore, a very good team and to both teams , thanks for wonderful entertainment.

well shambo, being from portstewart means im that out of touch with the goings on in ballinderry etc, i may as well be following propaganda  ;D

but did the county board not throw ballinderry out of the championship only for them to be reinstated after a lengthy, championship postponing appeal this year?

after all the hullabaloo on here round that time i would have thought i could have been forgiven for describing it as a 'saga'  ;D

That's true WhiskeySteve! ONE incident involving ONE player which if all other incidents involving all other clubs had been handled in the same manner there would have been no football played in Derry this year. As a member of the CCC was heard to say... when you have solicitors from Steelstown and Coleraine putting Ballinderry out of football, no wonder the county is in the state it is in !!!!

Setting out rules and regulations is all well and good, but the real question is what the county board can do to ensure the consistent enforcement of them.

Recent history has shown that a dogged appeals process can overturn nearly anything substantial.

The fact is most clubs will also vigorously dispute any major ruling these days as those in administration have continually displayed an inability to implement their authority on a solid basis - the ballinderry/slaughtneil sagas of the past 2 years being a case in point.

Draconian measures that can't be reinforced ultimately serve no purpose other than stirring up bad blood and undermining authority.

Could you list me all the Ballinderry Sagas over the past two years Whiskeysteve? Or have you been caught up by the propaganda as well?

Great news that he's back, gives us a fighting chance against Monaghan at least.  I'm beginning to think that the Max/Cassidy rumours are true!

;D ;D ;D ;D Have a look at Sonny Joe's posts as well.  ;D ;D ;D

Gilligan did not leave the Derry panel, Cassidy didn't pick him!
Who would you rather have on your team? Raymond Wilkinson or anyone of the following...... Eoin Brown, Enda Lynn, Brian Mullan, james Kielt, Gavin Mcshane, Seamus Bradley.
