Money again, but not the usual one. There appears to be a discrepancy between different clubs over fees they charge for membership each year, maybe it's something which could be looked at by an overall GAA body? I've just been sent the fees for Bredagh in Div 3 in Belfast - Youth/Student £35 Adult Player £55 Social/Coach £25 Family membership £100. Seems a lot to me for a club without even a home. What do they do with the money? How does this compare?

BM

I think that as the club in question have no home they would have to gererate money from somewhere as they have to play on council pitches and pay for them, I think they field teams at all levels in boys/mens football and Hurling, and teams at most levels in Camogie and girls/ladies football  I am sure there are clubs accross the country charge more, and others charge less.

what do your own club charge?

Maiden1 I have no idea what game you were watching, it certainly wasn't the same one as me,  a few of the St Paul's team should have walked, thon doirty wee git that was sent off should have went for a blatant punch on the back of the head on a Bredagh defender, then another one  punched the same defender three times on the back of the head and got a yellow!!!!, Football won the day. Bredagh seemed to have a few younger players on and a larger squad than last year. Not sure about intimidation of the corner forward, its senior football and its tough, a good player who scored  a few well taken frees

I stayed to see the friendly after that senior game, this was entertaining and Bredagh thirds beat St Pauls seconds, again  there were a few younger Bredagh players on display, all seems well on the Ormeau road,

General discussion / 'Sexercise' yourself into shape

Good old NHS.

The NHS has some new advice for people struggling to schedule a fitness routine into their daily lives - a workout between the sheets.
According to the NHS Direct website, "sexercise" can lower the risk of heart attacks and helps people live longer.

Endorphins released during orgasm stimulate immune system cells, which also helps target illnesses like cancer, as well as wrinkles, it states.

Sexual health experts said such claims could not be scientifically proven.

"It's good to see the NHS are promoting sexual wellbeing," Dr Melissa Sayer told the Guardian newspaper.

"Yes, there is evidence that sex has benefits for mental wellbeing, but to say there is a link with reduced risk of heart disease and cancer is taking the argument too far."

NHS Direct, however, told the paper the content was "backed by science and clinical evidence" and "isn't just a bit of fun".

'Regular romps'

The advice, published under the headline "Get more than zeds in bed", is one of several sexual health-related articles to be found on the NHS Direct website.

Sex with a little energy and imagination provides a workout worthy of an athlete, the article says.

"Forget about jogging round the block or struggling with sit-ups.

"Sex uses every muscle group, gets the heart and lungs working hard, and burns about 300 calories an hour."

The advice suggests "regular romps this winter" could lead to a better body and a younger look.

Increased production of endorphins "will make your hair shine and your skin smooth," it adds.

"If you're worried about wrinkles - orgasms even help prevent frown lines from deepening."

The article goes on to say that orgasms release "painkillers" into the bloodstream, which helping keep mild illnesses like colds and aches and pains at bay.

The production of extra oestrogen and testosterone hormones "will keep your bones and muscles healthy, leaving you feeling fabulous inside and out".

'Time to train. Time to get fit. Time to play football.'

its should be "a time to laugh a time to cry a time to live a time to die, with the emphasis on the die, let this tripe fade away and die

I think in Paddys own club there would be pandemonium at under age level if players were asked to pick sides so to speak. Correct me if I am wrong here, but in dual clubs would the majority of the good footballers also be the good hurlers and visa versa? would this not detract from the pool of players from each code and possibly, as Skull1 states, ruin hurling in some clubs, or maybe even football?

what a dildo

A robber who held up a bookmaker's shop in Leicester with his girlfriend's vibrator has been jailed.
Nicki Jex, 27, of Braunstone, Leicester, hid the sex toy in a carrier bag pretending it was a gun, Leicester Crown Court heard.

The manager at Ladbrokes in Narborough Road handed over more than £600 in cash when he pointed it at her on 27 December 2006, the court heard.

On Monday, Jex, who pleaded guilty to robbery, was jailed for five years.

Sentencing him, Judge Philip Head said: "It's right to record that you did not have a firearm but you pretended you had and intended that those you confronted believed that you did, and it must have been truly terrifying for them at the time."

The robbery was captured by CCTV inside the shop.

'Considerable courage'

As Jex left with more than £613 in till contents and other money, he was followed outside by the shop's last remaining customer Wayne Vakani the court heard.

"The defendant pointed the vibrator in the bag at Mr Vakani and warned him to back off," said Tim Palmer, prosecuting.

"Mr Vakani then kept a discreet distance but kept an eye on the defendant and watched where he went."

The court heard that it was thanks to this customer that the defendant's hat, worn during the robbery and containing his DNA, was discovered nearby.

Initially Jex denied any involvement but later changed his plea.

He was a drug addict with a string of previous convictions dating back to February 2002, the court heard.

In mitigation, Phil Gibbs, defending, said Jex, a qualified chef and engineer, had a "fragile" state of mind.

He told the court: "One can be thankful that the item he had wasn't a firearm.

"Frankly, he didn't care less what happened to him at that time. He was falling into the abyss and that's the root cause of drugs."

Mr Vakani was awarded £500 by Judge Head for his "very considerable courage".

seen the double headed in Downpatrick, cant see either Carryduff or Bredagh game getting passed Ballymartin. Carryduff have a very tenuous hold on their division 2 status and Bredagh, well that a different kettle of fish all together. reading over the posts here and talking to others its obvious to the entire GAA community that they only have one way of playing, up the middle with the big hail Mary ball, works sometimes, but percentage wise the other night, didn't work and Carryduff made a few changes and cut the ball out. Fancy Carryduff on Friday night big style

would this be one of the biggest changes of heart in management if correct? or was pressure exerted to have him return?
