Boy wonder Josh Rock kind of slid off the heights...

The 3 x double tops to finish the 120 was last week. Never seen anyone do that before.
Ok didn't see last week's. It was brilliant 👏

Just listened to latest podcast I thought was interesting discussion about captains. He's not a fan of Keane.. a lot of people aren't. Agreed with him on Canavan and Downey great leaders. Would add Jack O'Shea to that list although Kerry captain was changed every year, Jack'O always led....

Incredible the level of bile can be expressed here regarding Joe Brolly but suggest Mickey Harte isn't the man and boys be clutching their pearls calling for the moderators.
Are you OK with the bile Joe uses in his repeated personal, nasty, vindictive attacks over the years on the likes of Mickey Harte and Enda McNulty?
Harte is not squeaky clean either yet when he is criticised here, its a crying match.
I didn't say he was squeaky clean, but in any case that wasn't the question I asked you.
Some of Brolly's comments have been OTT and personal, I agree. Point I'm making is I made suggestions at the weekend that Harte is past it and won't bring Derry on any further. Innocuous enough and as well as getting hammered for it, accused of previously been here against Harte under different names was a shout made to the moderators... but is okay here to call Joe Brolly a 'cnut' ?
Wouldn't it be nice if there were no such things as personal attacks eh? But if someone with the platform that Brolly has can go on his podcast and sanctimoniously preach about the importance of kindness (as he does routinely) but simultaneously uses the same platform to attack and belittle people (I couldn't count how many times I've heard him use the phrase "f**k Mickey Harte" or "f**k off Mickey" for instance), then I think you're being a little sensitive about people with no such platform taking a pop back at him on an internet forum.

At the end of the day, if he's happy enough to dish out abuse, he probably doesn't require you to jump to his defence when he's the target of it on this little tiny corner of the internet.

And as for your last point, I listen to his podcast most weeks because while I think he's an egotistical, narcicistic hypocrite; when it comes to domestic and international politics (which he discusses reguarly), I agree with most of his views and find his arguments with Fanning to be very entertaining. I hope that's ok with you!
My issue is comment calls him a 'cnut' that wasn't you so fire away : )  he's certainly rattled yer cages
I wouldn't used the terminology Cnut, especially given his actions around organ donation. But I do not think much of his pundit pieces and the endless fantasy stories about incidents that likely never happened. He used to take sense and could analyse a game well. But his need to put himself front and centre all the time gets nauseating. As does his personal attacks and ability to change his views with the wind. He's now a figure of jest. Where as, while Mickey Harte may or may not be past it now, he has proven himself at the top level and will rightly be remembered as one of the best managers and GAA strategists in the game. Whereas Brolly will be remembered for blowing kisses and storytelling.
May be simplistic to say that's how they will be remembered. Depends who is doing the remembering: Brolly also on the only Derry team to win senior All Ireland, two All Stars, organ donation foundation while Mickey will be remembered for other things as well...

Amazing the people who hate him so much, listen to his podcasts to report back that they hate even more.

Derry Seniors still in a better place than Tyrone Seniors. So I would say he is going reasonably well.
Hardly, Tyrone a team in transition with 16 players making their championship debut this season, and two U20 All Ireland wins in three years indicating plenty talent coming through... meanwhile, Derry group of players at their peak and one of the favourites for the All Ireland, are totally floundering..

Quote from: whitey on May 21, 2024, 06:30:38 PMI'm sure people are going to go ballistic (no pun intended) when I ask this question, but what exactly did Hamas hope to accomplish by the attacks on October 7th?

Was it a revenge attack for decades of oppression on the Palestinians?

Was it an attempt to start a war?

Was it an attempt to derail the normalization of relations between Israel and other Muslim Countries?

Netanyahu was like Tyson Fury on Saturday night and would likely have been removed from office. Why did they give him this lifeline ?

On a scale of 1-10 how did they think Israel would respond ? (1 being do nothing, 10 being dropping a nuke)

All of the above.

If you're living from one aid drop to the next, being picked off and slaughtered day and daily by the IDF in both the Gaza strip and even still in the West Bank you've nothing to lose.

Did it play into Netanyahu and his ultra right wing partners in government hands? To an extent but it may well suit the Palestinians in the longer term with how Netanyahu has went on a genocidal rampage in the Gaza strip.

Those who have turned a blind eye to the atrocities carried out by the IDF for decades can no longer sit by and watch and now I think we're seeing the start of something better for Palestine as there's no way Netanyahu and the Israelis can be seen to have benefited from this genocide.
The Us can no longer be seen to be neutral in this conversation as it never was.

Couldnt all Whiteys questions be similarly asked of Irish rebellions. We were a small, poorly armed peasantry resisting the biggest empire in the world. Could we not ask why did our crazy ancestors rebel in 1641, 1798, Robert Emmett, 1916, Tan War, Troubles. Sure didnt we know what would come to us?

Which makes it all the more galling to see anyone with an inkling of Irishness in them supporting Israel in any form.

We've all been told for decades who the terrorists were whilst those who called us such we covered in the blood of innocent Irish people.

Perfect response. Whitey tacitly justifying genocide.

Quote from: Itchy on May 21, 2024, 04:29:09 PMHow do you square the fact that since old Genocide Joe came into Power the world has seen two new major conflicts in which he is stuck in the middle of?

Don't get me wrong, I think Trump is a total piece of shit and not fit to hold any office. I just think Biden is also a piece of shit and I take great offence that he tries to draw a link to Ireland as if he is some part of us.

Biden (or the US for that matter) had no hand act or part in starting either of those wars.

Once they started he had to take a side
Why does he have to take a side? What about the side of justice?
Arm a country committing genocide?
By the way it started long before last October.. but you know that.
