Quote from: square_ball on May 20, 2024, 11:26:38 AMI see there a Ronan Strain being doing a bit of scoring for Drumquin in the first few rounds of Division 3. Is that the fella that played underage for Tyrone? I thought he was an Omagh man?
Yeah that's him, transferred to drumquin at the beginning of the year I believe. Not sure why?

Junior league starting this weekend. What are we thinking this year? Killeeshil very hard to look past, expecting a big year from them. In terms of dark horses, I'd be looking at drumquin and glenelly. Two good young sides with plenty of quality.

Eskra vs Killyman
CNG vs Augher
Strabane vs Derrytesk
Urney vs Killeeshil
Glenelly vs Brackaville
Aghaloo vs Tattyreagh
Donaghmore III vs Brocagh

Quote from: ShutterinbyDayGAAbyNight on April 29, 2024, 12:03:51 PMHearing that if Tyrone U20's win on Wednesday the start of the Junior League will be rescheduled. Any truth in this?

I would doubt so. Would be very short notice for the junior players. By my count only three in the squad are from junior clubs anwyays, with only one starting (the glenelly gk)

Kyle Coney new Derrytresk manager I see. Interesting move, he's hardly retired yet is he?

Quote from: tyrone08 on January 17, 2024, 05:27:10 PMHope I am wrong but I can see a few bleak years ahead. Over the last 10 years or so tyronehave produced a lot of talented footballers but majority of them lack the grit and determination of the successful tyrone teams in the 00s. Alot of boys now seem more concerned with their image rather than getting stuck in.

After 1 AI alot of them walked away which you wont find in other counties.
Few bleak years ahead maybe, but the calibre of youth players coming through in the county is superior to any other county in Ulster in my opinion. 3 Tyrone schools in the MacRory semi final and the two Belfast sigerson teams have a large proportion of Tyrone men in the starting line ups and panels. You would imagine plenty of the all Ireland winning u20s will get their chances in the coming years but we are in a state of transition and it will more than likely take a few years to seriously compete at the top table again.

Quote from: Eire90 on December 19, 2023, 01:50:48 AMWould solution not be to split junior league in two and have a home and away format in the two divisions.

THe championship should probably remain the same your always going to have some one sided games and you cant really have a 8 knockout team championship only 3 games to win a title (tho i think fermanagh senior championship is only 8 teams)

Something along these lines would be very beneficial for all clubs in junior football I think. The gap between the top and bottom of division 3 seems to be widening each year. Would leave the majority of games relatively competitive and give the bottom clubs abit more heart and hope instead of getting serious hammerings every other week.
