I hear there were some choice words during the league game for the Galbally goalkeeper who used to be a donaghmore man.

Maybe if Donaghmore focused more on the football side of things rather than planting flowers and sledging young goalkeepers they could actually get past the first round.

This transfer epitomises the softness of these two clubs. Can't imagine a player moving from clonoe to coalisland or killyclogher to Omagh for example without major outrage.

It's not really a proper derby is it

Softness of both clubs? Galbally are soft for taking an all Ireland winning goalkeeper from their parish rivals?

Have you ever stepped foot in Galbally? Why do you think the psni are afraid to enter it?

What makes Galbally vs Donaghmore a proper derby is not just because they share a parish. It goes far beyond football as well. Donaghmore would be seen as upper class people and look down on Galbally as lower class. Many Galbally men in the east Tyrone brigade died fighting against Britain's occupation with Martin Hurson willing to starve himself to death while Donaghmore men hid away. which is why Galbally see the other side of the parish as cowards.

Where else in Tyrone would you find a parish with two clubs that are so different? Donaghmore men will always fall out with each other and transfer clubs but never in a million years would a Galbally man transfer to Donaghmore.

But when your idea of a proper derby is the likes of Omagh and killyclogher who are in different parish's and go with each other to the sunbeds and Turkish barbers then you mustn't have stepped foot in too many places in Tyrone.

Retweet.

Well said, nothing soft about the people of Galbally and Cappagh, proud staunch gaels, many over the centuries paying the ultimate sacrifice for their patriotism, not least the likes of Martin Hurson. A GAA club that does the best with what they have, reaching an All Ireland Intermediate final a few years ago.

Quote from: GAA Club Fan on July 03, 2025, 09:07:19 PMNot sure I can give too many answers to the support question. A few theories;

- I think Tyrone fans lost the habit of going in the later days of Harte, and then we'd covid. Sometimes going to these things is a habit.
- The Tyrone Club scene is very active. There have been games every week more or less which takes a lot of the focus. When our game ends at the weekend, thoughts immediately turn to the next big game, and that's usually the club game. In other counties the club season can bypass people. If Tyrone was out once every 3 x weeks you have a chance to build that hype and get momentum among the support which is no longer the case.
- Tyrone used to be hated, Spillane, RTE, Southeners etc. I think that got the juices going. Us against the world. We are probably not hated enough.
- I think the team lack personality a bit. Mugsy, Ricey, etc. They are all a bit samey character wise now.
- The County does not have an all county identity anymore. Dooher, O'Neill, McShane, McNamee all represented N Tyrone for example. There is no representation there any more so we're probably losing something there too.
- I find the young ones don't drink as much. In the past it was bus trips and a bit of craic. That would have brought a huge number of young ones who had no interest in the GAA. Again, the fact that there are Club games on top of County games is probably a hindrance. A young club player will not bother with the game so he can be ready for the club. That stops him/her and 1/2 pals. Again, the CCC have lots of games to fit in to a short window with the starred system so it's a hard square to circle.

Good post

A sensible new poster, haven't seen one of them in the Tyrone forums in a while

So to summarise you used to have a load of young drunk kids following you like armagh recently now you don't. But no doubt they will be back for the semi. Which everyone knows you have zero chance of winning.

More chance of winning it than Down have anyway 😂

Why don't they just do the All Stars based on GPS trackers.

Just thought some of the pics at the end of the Cavan game where a bit attention seeking.

Player gets injured comes back plays football it's a story as old as time, just get on with it .

The just get on with it mentality and claiming anyone who is open and vulnerable are attention seeking, is a massive problem. I hope nobody is relying on you for emotional support anyway...

Im an Antrim woman living in Tyrone - who would ask me for emotional support???

He has a great season in 2021 but I will tell you now muckers.... he wont be the key to unlocking 2025

Any suggestion his influence on 2021 was down to fitness alone is ridiculous. He shut down key men in opposition teams all the way through that run while also linking the play and contributed in attack, and bringing leadership. McGeary got the award because his contributions was more obvious - and he had a great summer - but I'd always argue Meyler's contribution was greater.

He also backed it up after 2021 in a struggling team when others dropped off badly. And now he has fought back from horrific injury problems. I've nothing but admiration for the man.

He didn't take any of those pics after the Cavan game, he simply embraced family who knew better than any of us what he had done to get back there.

Strange sporting culture at times when a man gets a hard time for striving to be as good as he can be, showing his emotions and speaking eloquently. Some people seem to feel strangely threatened by this.

McGearys a better footballer - Meyler is a better athlete - Im glad McGeary won it. Here if Meyler is as good as everyone in here says i'll eat humble pie when he delivers us another All Ireland in 2025. Until then I look forward to reading more articles about how intense it is playing an amateur sport and how much commitment it takes to make sure you have unprecedented levels of non fun! You know it Mucker!

"Us"?.....Sure you're an Antrim woman?.... 😉

Fair f&*ks to them if they do considering the game is scheduled for Sunday.

Quote from: omagh_gael on April 30, 2025, 11:35:46 PMI was at it on the half way line. Tyrone did have a small break in the 4v3 but Eoin mcelholm was instructed by linesman to get back and he did. The rules changed to give this leeway if I'm correct?

Donegal breeched it by a country mile for the deciding free kick.

The wind was much stronger there than if might have appeared on TV. Tyrone were 100% correct to hold on to the ball as the Donegal anti football philosophy meant that they'd completely clogged up the scoring zone. Would have been sucicidal to risk bringing the ball into contact.

On a separate note, You'd wonder if Donegal people would ever get fed up of the way they play football. f**k it's a hard watch and forces the other team to mirror them. Hardly a ball kicked more than 30m and as soon as they lose the ball it's a sprint back to 12 men inside the arc.

Spot on, pure and utter muck. It's absolutely putrid. Tyrone learned from the game in Ballybofey a few weeks back where they consistently fell into the spiders web and were hit on the counter. Unfortunately the only way to beat it is to mirror it.

Who against? Any idea of team and performances? The u20s had a good performance tonight but I thought it demonstrated how difficult the new rules can make it on weaker teams playing stronger ones. Neither the Tyrone or Fermanagh lads will have gained too much from tonight.

Yeah its absolute nonsense and shouldn't be allowed and won't be from next year by all accounts. All the better considering Damian Diver's plans to roll it out as a county wide project next year. Schools themselves were not consulted and aggrieved that players were "advised" not to play for their own schools in what are schools competitions. Be some kick in the teeth to Abbey in Donegal Town, a genuine school team who've put in a lot of work alongside the local club and earmed themselves a MacRory spot from competing in the Faul Cup at one point a number of years ago,if this elitist all star amalgamation were to beat them down the line to win the Premier "Schools" competition, the MacRory Cup. This is hardly an area that's under developed in it's gaelic footballing tradition either, West Donegal, the South West and the Rosses are traditionally the strongest gaelic footballing areas in the county. People are only raising it as an issue now though that the team is doing well in the competition, should have been knocked on the head from the beginning.

Fair play Errigal, bait ref and all! When you come out of Ulster you almost take it for granted you won't get fair play with some of the bias nonsense goes on from various angles including the media as well as the men in the middle. Makes winning games that bit sweeter.

Tight performance this from Cawley, Errigal be 3 to 4 points further ahead if it wasn't for some terrible decisions/non decisions.
