The content on bbc iplayer is fantastic. Outside of the pyramid stage there were some fantastic sets that I caught over the weekend. Chemical Brothers have been mentioned but some brilliant stuff from Jungle, Caribou and Run The Jewels to name some of the lesser mainstream acts.

Bled in Slovenia is a lovely spot for a wee break. If you like to be active there is plenty of exploring to be done and it won't cost an arm and a leg.

With a couple of hundred million already spent post Fergie the Glazers will obviously be weighing up how much more is a reasonable amount to spend to challenge for a title. Will they spend another £200m just to challenge? How much is it worth to win a Premier League?

The difference between Liverpool, United, Arsenal versus say Chelsea and City is these clubs are run by businessmen who expect to be profitable. Abramovich and the oil men of City treat their clubs like a hobby and are happy to buy success no matter what it costs. I'm not sure United will follow the same path and would be surprised if they continue the spending to the extent we have seen over the summer.

Are United fans now advocating to replicate the approach adopted by Chelsea and City in recent years?  Talk of 'buying the league' and destroying the foundations of the transfer market is acceptable if done by the club you support perhaps. £200m has been dished out in the last 12 months which shouldn't be sniffed at.

The issue is how it is being spent and the Glazers have no say over that I'm guessing.  Like Jackie Stallone's face, throwing money at the problem won't make it any prettier.

That was dreadful last night no matter what team was put out.  It was a huge opportunity for United to settle their early season jitters and give the fans something to cheer so why Rooney, RVP, Mata et al weren't even in the match day squad is a bit baffling considering they have no European competition to worry about this year. The mood at training must be grim today to say the least!

4 days to do business and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Liverpool showed on Monday that it takes time for new players to come in and gel so no matter who is brought in there will be more teething problems over the next few weeks. At least they can be thankful they have a run of fixtures now that might make this process a bit more straight forward.

Glad to have the Spurs fans back. 3 months and not a peep out of them  ;)

Looks like the criticism dished out to Moyes last season was largely unfair given the same issues are happening again under a 'big name manager' such as Van Gaal. Slightly worrying times for United fans.

Don't forget they have spent close to £150m (maybe more?) since Fergie has left without bringing much back in.  The Glazers have provided cash, it's just that other than Mata it has been mishandled.

I think some fans are jumping the gun with Can's ability though he did show some promise in pre-season.  Can aside, I was still shocked to see Lucas start ahead of Joe Allen who is a lot more mobile and retains possession very well.

I was delighted when we signed Lovren as I rate him very highly. He impressed yesterday but Liverpool can defend a lot better overall. We were pedestrian in midfield and that piled the pressure on the back 4 as Southampton gotr behind us time and time again. This all comes back to Lucas but I'll keep that can of worms closed for now!

I knew he wasn't an option yesterday. I was looking forward to when him and Flanagan will be options and surely it will spell the end for Glen Johnson.

I was impressed with Maquillo at right back.  If he continues to play like that he will make that position hiw own. Enrique, Flanagan, Johnson will surely be back ups.

New striker this week would be nice. Would give us a bit of extra belief going into the City match on Monday night with extra firepower at our dispsal.

A bit better than right back maybe but seeing as he is absolutely diabolical playing right back that's not hard. Has easily been our worst player in the last 14-16 months.

I can't believe Liverpool have spent approx £100m and there were starting places for Johnson and Lucas yesterday.  They need dropped asap. When both Flanagan and Moreno are available I wouldn't have Johnson on the bench for that matter.

Allen came on and did exactly what I expected him to do......look twice the player of Lucas.

Bit of a shaky start for Liverpool but 3 points in the bag which is the main thing. Lallana and Markovic to come in will improve creativity going forward. Also means when Coutinho is having an off day there are options to replace him.

If I never seen Lucas and Johnson in a Liverpool starting 11 again it will be too soon.

I think a lot of people predicting a major fall from grace for Liverpool this season will be feeling a bit sheepish in a couple of months.

Yes, they have lost their best player from last season but with Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge they have a front 3 that will still tear up defences.  The defensive frailties have somewhat been amended with solid signings and there is a lot more strength in depth to cope with European football.

Lovren is actually a right footed player but for some reason he prefers to play as a left centre back. He has played both sides last season though.

Agger was/is a great servent to Liverpool but I can't see him being a starter this year and if that's the case he will want to leave. He is very injury prone as well so it might be a good deal for both sides
