We seem to have lost the plot completely, celebrating St.Patricks Day whilst ignoring his message. Drunken orgies and maudlin tacky parades are a poor celebration of our national saint. No wonder we are sterotyped as drunken stupid Paddies, tomorrow most of us will fit the image.

how dare you! today, before every pint, i'll be offering up praise to the universe for the miracle of life that made ireland, pints and me possible.

happy st patrick's day everyone!

murphy and mcfadden shackled well. neil gallagher in full forward now. cork well worth the lead.

problems for donegal going forward. no penetration, just passing the ball along the cork 45 and eventually being turned over or when then look for a man inside there's not enough numbers in there nor space.

cork look good defensively. very good swarm defence.

The Neil Gallagher experiment hasn't worked so far. Fair enough trying it in the league when little is at stake, but hopefully he'll be back in midfield for the championship.

in fairness, from what i could make out from the intermittent interent stream (thanks again donegal lad, anything is better than nothing as they say), ng only went in full forward in the final ten as a desperate measure to get a goal looked like to me. the internet stream i was watching just froze, so i went back to the highland commentary and that's when we got the quick 3 pts towards the end. i missed those 3pts between hoping the stream would sort itself, realising it wouldn't and going back to highland. so it might have worked, i dunno, cos i missed it!

we had a few goal chances there today that we didn't take so we're able to open teams up every now and again inside. wherrity had a good chance. he keeps making those, hopefully he'll pop one in soon. what we're not doing well is creating scoring chances in that 30-40m area. looked like cork had a dozen sweepers in there and we never really overcame this.

cork were better at breaking forward quickly too, whereas they slowed our attacks down very effectively. we defended well enough though. i wouldn't be too worried about our defence. mcbrearty at chf was a bit meh, but i'd like to see him get a few more games there and to be given more options to pass to. we need to develop more of a nuanced attacking game than we have, if we're going to crack resilient well drilled swarm. you can see why putting big ng in there has its appeal, high payoff for minimal layout sort of thing. but it rarely works out like that.

need to have the red card for that kind of a foul on murphy.

Sin bin required for a number of fouls in football.

need to do something. just promotes cynicism not having a proportionate penalty.

pissed off with this league. we've had one leaderboard since it started. total waste of time.

In paper every week, well top 300 anyway. I've been in and out of it, fell out of top 300 this week.  :(

i only really buy it when the championship gets underway.

Feed, hq, beer and watch the club finals, more beer, more beer, and be home before the headers get back from Digbeth. :o What a wonderful day Saint Patrick's Day is. ;D

did the digbeth thing the first year i was in the west midlands. not my scene. lot of underage kids messed up falling all over the shop + getting a drink down there is a nightmare, the queues are savage in some pubs.

we'll be doing our drinking around selly oak and harbourne before finishing up in moseley. the prince of wales has a traditional session from 8.

That's what I mean when I say "headers". Would you get to see the AICF finals around those areas you mention? Hall Green wouldn't be that far from those places and there are plenty of pubs/ clubs to watch them in around there. Myself, Maddog and a few likeminded souls will spend the day in Vaughans, it's sound there during the day but a bit to many "youths" in it at night for my liking.  I'd love to end the day off in Moseley but I know my limitations (kind of).

Enjoy.

cheers have a good one too. if you make it to moseley and the prince of wales i'll be in the donegal jersey!

nearest spot showing the games is st patrick's social club on rotton park road.

Ffs, you'd better give me more to go than that. I'd say that shirt'll probably outnumber every other one. Columbo I'm not. :P

fair point. i'll wear the donegal hoodie instead.

loads of people do paddy's days pub crawls. popular student thing.

love a good pub crawl with friends. we don't get to do them often enough imo, difficult getting everyone together that's the problem.

pub crawl tactics are crucial. good planning and refuelling mid pub crawl is advisable, and you've got to start early and pace yourself too in my book, and be prepared to dig in to make it to closing time. going to get an early night tonight too so i'm in tip top shape.
