what happened there? just turned back on to see goalie sent off

Keeper clipped a boy coming off at half time. Would not have happened if the officials were doing their job.

If that's a card  it's black not yellow.

Would agree with that.

When's the last time it mattered? Oh right 2001.

You'd have thought last year would matter to them being reigning All Ireland Champions defending their title in their own backyard that and they might have a bit of pride there.

I just don't see where they can make up that 11pt deficit.

In the same way Monaghan couldn't make up a 9 pt deficit earlier this season?

I'm just glad we're capable of competing with Tyrone again, but the reality is we're the team they want in the qf.

Credit indeed to O'Rourke. Himself and Bradley stayed on with little thanks or appreciation at a rough moment for the Donegal team. He'd be entitled to feel he's earned a proper shot at it if he gets them through next week.

He's probably reading this really honest and heartfelt post now and, being an emotional chap, will have noticed the large lump in his ..:

24,483 low for today's Leinster final or the expected crowd?

Time to take Leinster finals out of a 3/4 empty Croke Park

Indeed, inflating the admission price price for football matches to compensate for loss makers like this.

Galway very disappointing. Derry fairly sloppy at times too.

Derry 1-5 to 0-2 up at half time.

Right - Permutations. I reckon

- Clare definitely gone. Best they can hope for is to finish level with Donegal, but would lose out on head to head.
- The three other teams can all still finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the group.
- Derry or Monaghan will top the group if they win their last match by a bigger margin than the other.
- Donegal can still win the group, but would need to beat Monaghan and Clare to beat Derry.

Interesting couple of games ahead.

After his performance last Saturday, Derry fans won't be too impressed to learn that Noel Mooney is down to referee the fixture with Donegal in Ballybofey.

Was convinced I had read that wrong, how can it be that a Referee does the same Team twice in a year let along twice in a week with the panel they have, don't think you'd even get that at club level
Referee is apparently changed to Brendan Cawley

That's a real pity because, if it had been a poor game, I was hoping to play "Which way will he give the free this time?" and "Was that close enough to give a point?" to keep me entertained.

If only every county could find a way to to instil the passion, belief, intelligent and intensity into football that Monaghan does.

Always loved that about them.

7-6 to Monaghan at half time. They're taking their scores, Derry a fair few bad wides.

Not many Monaghan folk here; I've counted 8.

Wicklow only team already out?

Everyone should be wise by this stage to Joe's generalisations and assumptions. Personally I now treat all his articles with the scepticism they deserve and the sensationalism they crave.  Some of the 98 team apparently not pleased that Joe seemed to speak on their behalf. Understandable. Most adults would rather be consulted first.

Gonna sound like Brolly here, but I was talking to one of the men of '98. About Brolly. And he said "He's the type of boy you'd hit a dig and tell him to fcuk up. And that would be the end of it."
