GAA Discussion / Re: These New Rules are a joke
January 06, 2009, 09:09:31 AM
I found  the spin which was put on the new system interesting; that being there were no red cards given out, meaning that it is a success, but since the majority of red cards would have been administered for a second yellow, it is a disingenuous argument to put it nicely.
Have the GAA sent press officers to the same school the Lisbon Treaty Referendum Team where sent to, i.e. don't inform anyone what is really going to happen but what you wish them to believe is going to happen.

Follow link if want to see photos of todays game between Armagh and Antrim, copy and paste into address bar if can't click on it.

Did anyone else see the scoreboard at end of game (see photos) Armagh won 0-12 to 0-10 yet the score was given as Armagh 0-12 to Antrim 1-11 with another goal being added after the game was ended making it 0-12 to 2-11, someone must have had a few to ward off the cold or left a kid to look after the last few minutes of the game.

tony he is not a spring chicken as can work out from time the story dates, and lived in Dalton, think he's still there, well known in red neds for his "F'ing"

Another of his was that he joined the UDR at the outset but left when realised what they were, said he was guarding the electric transformers for the cross border connection next to tandragee, when two men cut their way through the wire to plant a bomb, hs shouted at them to stop and when they didn't he shot them both dead. Again it was all hushed up because they where two UDR men and they didn't want the bad publicity

Someone said "Will ya go lassie go"  was a scottish song, twas the father of the McPeake's from Belfast who wrote it, though some say he used an old scottish song as the base for it, but when looked at words and listened to the air of the scottish one, I thought they  weren't very alike but that's so long ago can't even remember its name now.
Rod Stewart was well caught out by assuming that it was a scottish song too, put it on an ablum with "Trad scottish by anon" when McPeakes who hold copyright contacted his Publisher they had to recall them all.
Wouldn't mind having one of the albums, say they be worth a few quid because of rarity value.

Once told by a well known character in Armagh area

"It was around the start of the troubles and I was up the country hunting and nothing was moving so went to O'Tooles for a beer, went out the back and we were throwing empty bottles and shooting at them, took a shot at one and a army jet flew over just as I fired. You know the pilot ejected into Seaghan Lough and it crashed in Fermanagh but they hushed it up because they didn't want anyone to know"

On a par with one show, though is on for longer so perhaps this makes it worse  ;D

Hopefully it's be an Armagh City final nutsy, somehow I don't think it will happen but I've been wrong before lets hope wrong again.

Something for the weekend is on BBC2, jokey magazine type programme with inane interviews (Myleen Klass interviewed this morning) and cookery, basically chewing gum tv, but best of a bad bunch when can only pick up a few tv stations.

General discussion / something for the weekend
October 05, 2008, 11:55:56 AM
Was watching "something for the weekend" this morning and got to wondering, how come not seen any GAA team tops in the photos of those who have tried out the cooking recipes, obviously as a uk programme there are lots of soccer tops. They keep banging on about soccer so people wear them to have more chance of being shown but would love to see the presenters trying to work out what GAA team jersey they where wearing, probably have trouble with Kerry and Tyrone never mind any other county team coulours.  :D

Just wondering do GAA supporters not cook, suffer too much from the night before to watch what is the best of a bad mornings viewing if not got that many channels, or are all GAA supporters off to watch teams training and not watch the programme.

Hope this in right forum, thought though it mentions GAA not really on the topic of actual games etc.

nope it a red hoodie, if it the same guy you mean. If click on all sizes above pic can get bigger image and if click on original will get full size image, I've cropped some of them but others are full size so fairly large, will get some noise in some of the larger images because of being taken under floodlights

He's only a young fella O'Neill, thought ya big enough and mean enough not to worry about wee lads  :P First time I've taken photos under floodlights and if was still at school would have "could do better" marked at them, but there a few I was happy with.

One thing I noticed and thought was great to see, as I went in there were a number of people to the left of the wee lad in the hood who where all speaking what sounded like one of the baltic languages, seemed to be enjoying the game too. Hopefully the game is spreading into the visitors to Ireland communities.

Was at the game, hence the photo link  ;D

Was a small enough crowd at the match though the pitch is in good shape and everyone there had a good time. Finished Armagh 2-11 Ulster 0-16
Here's a link to some photos if anyone is interested.
