Laois / Re: Thank you Ross

I thought one of Ross's great performance was the second half against Dublin in that soul destroying Leinster final in 2005.

He dragged us bag into it like a man possessed and scored some great points.

Navan was his day alright and we got through but I thought he was something else that second half against the Dubs.

All things considered it was a good run out,

Maher will learn more from the defeat that a big victory. He got a good look at players under pressure and he has used a lot of lads over the 3 games.

Hopefully we don't get any big beatings in the league and take some form into the Joe McDonagh. That's the time to be beating Offaly.

Decent run out against the Cats in fairness.

Good score to put up against them.

A win is a win and nothing brings confidence like winning.

A season opener or not it's not often we get the better of the likes of Wexford these days so fair play.

Maher is a good manager and if he can have a similar affect to Eddie Brennan then we will hopefully have a good year.

Decent result today.

Lack of goals would be a concern because we're not keeping them out!

Intersting starting positions for some there. Will be interesting to see how it goes.
Great to see Willie Dunphy committing again. If ever there was a lad who could stay away it would be Willie with his injuries etc.
He's certainly a role model for others.

Laois / John Conway RIP
November 16, 2022, 10:08:10 AM
Sad to hear the news of the passing of the Laois footballing legend, John Conway after a long battle with illness. Named on the Laois team of the millennium and involved with Laois GAA for many's a year as a player and referee .
Condolences to his family and all at Arles Kilcruise Gaa club.

The sending off yesterday certainly didn't help but the two quick goals were the real problem as Crokes always kept Ballcolla at arms lenght.

In saying that they did make a fight of it but it was a big ask.

Willie just has enough of the pulling and dragging he got all afternoon and the game was up at that stage.

Yeh, I would agree with you, and the size difference was notable with some of the match ups. Much smaller crop of young fella's to pick from for Na Fianna even though it's 3 clubs.
They gave it a right go in fairness to them.

Portlaoise won the U15 A final by 3 points yesterday. Final score 2-05 to 0-08.

Portlaoise probably deserved the win however they got a fortutitous second goal to give them a 6 point lead at half time having played with the wind.

Na Fianna Og outscored them in the second half but having got within a point of Portlaoise couldn't get an equaliser. It always looked like they'd need a goal and their efforts in the second half to get so close took their tole and they ran out of gas.

Some decent players on view on both sides.

Was over at the U15 semi final between Na Fianna Og and Mountmellick Parish Gaels over the weekend which Na Fianna Og won by 9 points.

It was my first time at Mountmellick GAA grounds and they have a good set up there with a great clubhouse, second pitch, ball wall etc.

How a town the size of that cannot field their own team is a puzzle to me. They're obviously doing great work there but the lack of underage players should be of huge concern for Laois GAA. They have the schools and the population to be fielding teams.
